• There were many reasons for the change of the site software, the biggest was security. The age of the old software also meant no server updates for certain programs. There are many benefits to the new software, one of the biggest is the mobile functionality. Ill fix up some stuff in the coming days, we'll also try to get some of the old addons back or the data imported back into the site like the garage. To create a thread or to reply with a post is basically the same as it was in the prior software. The default style of the site is light colored, but i temporarily added a darker colored style, to change you can find a link at the bottom of the site.

Questions on 2 Mods being considered

First and most important... Windshields. I'm considering the Can Am Ultra Touring and someone has said good things about the CHAD offered thru ESI. I'm curious if there are any issues with an adjustable windshield remaining position due to road vibration etc.

Second... I'm looking for suggestions/recommendations on placement of LED's

Thanks,

The windscreen is one of those things that becomes fairly unique based on the individual. If you are lucky, you will find one very early that works well for you and does exactly what you want it to. If not, you will be like many of us who have multiple windscreens on hand now due to trial and error.

My wife has the CHAD on hers. While it is not the greatest looking thing on the market, it does a great job for her. She is now considering rounding the top edges of it like many others have so it is not such a big square going down the road. As with anything adjustable, you should check the tightness of the nuts every now and then. When we were ryding to Daytona, my wife got a big surprise when after many miles at 85 mph her screen decided it was tired and laid back towards her some. She signalled, we exited I-95, adjusted the screen, tightened the nuts back up, got back on the road, and she hasn't had any problems since.

I am running the Givi now and have been really pleased with it. I went from the stock to the BRP Sport Touring at first. That worked well during the hotter months, as even though my head would get buffeted a lot I was still getting good airflow in the heat. Eventually I got tired of being a bobblehead, and it turned much colder. I am 5-9 and the Givi is just tall enough to force the air to the top of my helmet, while still looking sporty. I was planning on switching back to the Sport Touring this summer, but may just leave the Givi on as it is really nice to not have all of the buffeting against my head all the time.

I think the CHAD looks great - it is wide so it sort of blends in with the Antennae (mirrors) so they don't look like they are sticking out like a sore thumb.

Good wind blockage and really helps in the rain. I am short so keep mine all the way down and angled towards me. If HDX were to ride it he can adjusted it to his liking - easy to adjust. Plus I can wear a shorty helmet and my glasses stay on. I couldn't do that w/ the old brp shield. I had the stock one that came with it and the touring one but that was in '08.

Edit to Add: To answer your question, it doesn't move at all when riding. It won't loosen up.

LED's

Go here: http://www.esicycleproducts.com/

You'll find LED kits to replace existing lighting on the spyder. Also, they have Day Runners (LED's), which are not replacements, but in addition to existing lighting.

You can also get to ESI products from the home page.

+1 on the CHAD.

I saw it first on Smylinacha's Spyder, and I took her and HDXBONES' advice and recommendation and got one from Ev at esi a year ago.

I am 6' 2" (though shrinking, apparently) and it's been great in rain and snow.

Top 5 Best investment on the Spyder!

for myself, only the F1 evo3 slider windshield will do.:2thumbs:
i have the sliding part of windshield up only on freeway speed and rest of them times, shorter main windshield looks good.
one hand, on the fly adjustability is nice also.

If you are looking at LED's make sure you look at customerdynamics. I have about 400 LEDs on right now and about another 250 to finish putting on when I get the time. It was pretty easy, just takes some time. Once I am done, I will post up where I put them all but in summary:

99 under the front lower lip.
120 on the under carriage but not attached to the frame to them keeping crushed when the shop puts it on the lift.
Each vent has a set of LEDs. The ones connected to the plastics all have disconnects so the panels can come off.
Some on the swing arm which I actually plan to move.

Next:
more behind the license plate and under the left side.
Inside the trunk
In the air vents on each side to light up the inside of the bike a bit more.

check out my profile for pics on the progress.
All are wired to one switch which is currently under the seat until I find a home for it.

Windshield Question.

Just put on the CalSci XL (I'm 6'4") and i am extremely satisfied with it. My wife is 5'7" and loves it also. I used to be the one always riding but sometimes i get home and it is gone......www.calsci.com. Check them out. Good quality, bolts right up, great Co. Hope this helps. Please see my profile for pictures.

I used it for a month or two, No pluses. the wind would beat me up at high way speeds 55+ It looks good on a wall in my garage collecting dust.
I have a F1 EVO3 tinted, been on for over a year now, works well. Especially in the winter with the wings on. The wings come off in the warm weather.
