There are many benefits to the new software, one of the biggest is the mobile functionality. Ill fix up some stuff in the coming days, we'll also try to get some of the old addons back or the data imported back into the site like the garage. Anybody familiar with insuring young drivers?

Tell you what--- I've been racking my brains all day trying to insure a young (19 year old) driver and just cannot believe the rates we're getting quoted!

Seems the only way a 19 year old could afford to insure a car is to get them a beater and not put much coverage on it.

We would rather have him drive a newer(2002) car with better safety features. We'd also like to have some kind of collision coverage-- but ZIKES is it over the top!

Here is what we're seeing:

2002 PT Cruiser - worth around $3,500 give or take.

6 Months with 500 comp/collision

$950.00 - $1,250.00 --- for SIX months !:yikes:

Can lower to $650 without any comp/collision.

To me this just seems nuts for a $3,500 car.

One of the reasons I moved out of Michigan. I let my kids on my insurance..they paid the tab. And when my 2 older sons each got 6 points, they no longer were allowed on my insurance. There are times I think MI is governed by the auto insurance people.

FireFly a couple of years ago I went through this however mine was a little bit different,, Try this----A set of twins, yah I'm sure I'm not the only one that has a set, however, this means they get there license at the same time, so having said that I WISH I could have paid that much when they both got there license,, You can actually double that and add a bit to it yet.. Not sure if you are insuring a Girl or Boy but yes it does make a difference,, Our twins is (boy/girl), so again, I got hammed a bit more.. I feel ya brother.. You don't want to even know what I still pay a month for insurance for them.. The insurance Company make a killing on the youth thats for sure and in most cases, (not all)the parents have to pay most of it if not all.. They are 19 now so its a bit better but I still pay an arm and leg to have them covered, well I pay the Arm and they do pay the Leg..

Yeah--- we get socked for sure-- of course Michigan has lifetime health coverage for any injury resulting from an accident. For example, I can still go to my chiropractor and not pay a dime due to an accident I had 20 years ago.

It's just been years since I dealt with insuring a 19 year old--- shell shock for sure!

I wonder if they had been Siamese if you'd still have to pay for two---:roflblack:

I mentioned to the agent 'gee, they really sock it to these kids'--- and she said 'actually, THEY sock it to us because of all the claims'. Not what I really wanted to hear.....

Been shopping it around--all of them seem to hit the kids pretty hard. It's no wonder so many buy insurance just long enough to get legal tabs and then cancel their insurance and drive illegally (not something we would ever do).

Guess it's just one of those things. I did manage to cut my Spyder insurance way down. Was paying $860 a year with State Farm--- now paying $450 a year with Progressive.....

That's cheap. Here in Ontario, insurance for my son on an 02 Civic is $4500.00 per year.
