• There were many reasons for the change of the site software, the biggest was security. The age of the old software also meant no server updates for certain programs. There are many benefits to the new software, one of the biggest is the mobile functionality. Ill fix up some stuff in the coming days, we'll also try to get some of the old addons back or the data imported back into the site like the garage. To create a thread or to reply with a post is basically the same as it was in the prior software. The default style of the site is light colored, but i temporarily added a darker colored style, to change you can find a link at the bottom of the site.

O.K. Here's the deal.
I go out to Spydee and put the key in and it's DEAD! No guage lights, no test pattern...nada. While I'm under the seat checking batt. terminals the bike comes to life like nothing was wrong. Yes I know...shouldn't have left the key on...oops! The batt. tender was in the green as well.
Here's the thing. My wife bought me a spun stainless steel wallet for Christmas and I just recently have taken to putting the bike key in there instead of on my key ring.
Now I know there should be NO WAY that should effect it (chip?) But I put the key back in the wallet for 15 mins. and tried again. DEAD! 2 mins. later the guages come to life!
Tried resetting relays and pulling the key out and reinserting it in these two mins.....NADA!
I left it on the workbench and no problem in 5 tries.
Back into the wallet and NADA for about 2 mins.:gaah:
One of the "selling features" for this wallet is that people can't scan your P.I.N or credit card info from you like they can with a garage door opener as it blocks radio waves. Ever think the day would come where we had to worry about this kind of thing!?!?
Anyway..I tested and retested and as goofy as it sounds...I keep coming back to the wallet!
I must be losing my mind but it is what it is.
Any thoughts?
P.S. They really don't like me in airports anymore either.

Here's a picture. It's pretty cool actually but slippery.
There's no magnetic money clip. Would the movement in my pocket be creating something akin to a mag field that is strong enough to affect the key but not my cards?
What I know about this subject you could write on the head of a pin in capital letters!:helpsmilie:
Thanks,

Have you tried to see if it affects your car key?

Fill it up with 100's send it to me and i'll scan it for you!!:yes:

The only thing I can think of is it is building up at static charge from the wallet that eventually dissapated. Otherwise it may just be a glitch in the key. Does the other key do the same thing?

Duh! I can't believe I didn't try that! So.....just did.
15 mins. in the wallet and NADA! Same deal.:yikes:
I wish my truck had a chipped key but I may have to wait for the wifey to come home as I think hers is. 2006 Monte Carlo SS.....should be.
Thanks so much for the help and ideas guys, it just keeps coming back to the wallet. Not really a problem but odd nonetheless.

Whats wifey going to say if you permanently disable the Monte's key?

A little Google research on stainless steel wallets, says they perform as a Faraday Cage-

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Faraday_cage

it must cancel out the key's broadcast range temporarily, until it can strengthen again. Wonder if it could do any permanent damage to the key over time?:dontknow:

THANKS! I read that and it makes sense to me (if you stand on one foot and squint really hard!);)
That would explain why the credit cards aren't affected, if I'm reading it right.
As I said..not a problem but odd.
Thanks HDXBONES!

Im surprised that you get NOTHING with the key after its been in the wallet. I have a key cut that has no chip in it (triumph blank) that leave in the ignition while its parked in the garage. that way if I wanna get into the trunk, or play with lights, radio, etc, I can do it without going back into the house for the chipped key. The bike will operate fine (except for starting) with this key and there is NO CHIP in it. I think you have more goin on than just the key.

I think maybe your money is bad and it is the cause of your key troubles ! Send me your money and i will see if it affects my key .:roflblack::roflblack:
