• There were many reasons for the change of the site software, the biggest was security. The age of the old software also meant no server updates for certain programs. There are many benefits to the new software, one of the biggest is the mobile functionality. Ill fix up some stuff in the coming days, we'll also try to get some of the old addons back or the data imported back into the site like the garage. To create a thread or to reply with a post is basically the same as it was in the prior software. The default style of the site is light colored, but i temporarily added a darker colored style, to change you can find a link at the bottom of the site.

Analogue temp and fuel gagues... disconnect

strats

Has anyone tried, or does anyone know if you disconnect the analogue gagues on a RT-S, do they just appear back on the LCD?

I just can't figure why we have a great colour screen in the middle of the cluster and the fit 2 analogue guages as a premium option? strange.

To be honest, I'd rather not have them.:dontknow:

Interesting question...wonder if the blanked out digitals are hard coded, changeable via BUDS, or automatically detected and switched? If it were done via BUDS, they might be able to be simply restored by the technician, but that option would surprise me. From the parts fiche, the sending units are the same, so showing either one...or both, should be possible. If we could see the instructions provided when the analog gauges are provided as an option, we might learn more. If you disconnect the gauges, let us know what happens.

All I can say is "YAY.... I'M OFF TO THE SHED"

........ and 10 minutes later

NO MORE STUPID ANALOGUE GAUGES, now to order blanking plates.

Thanks Doc:ohyea:

gauges

In the Spyder RT/RS advertisement booklet from the dealers, on page 4 in the photo of the "Multi-Function Gauge Cluster" the display does show gas (blue bars on right) and temperature (yellow bars on left) indicators.

Is that not the case on the real live Spyders? (I haven't gotten mine yet.)
Are you guys saying that only the analog gauges are displaying this info.?

That is correct. With analog gauges fitted, the digital gauges are disable and blanked out. The Owner's Guide talks about this.

Analog gauges

That's the pits. Called secondary gauges, you'd think both indicators, digital and analog, would show the information simultaneous.

If it was me, I would keep the digitals and replace the analogs with a Volt Meter and an Oil Pressure. :doorag:

did the I -Pod volume come up on the right to or do you lose this it don't look like there is room for both[

The picture I showed above is the normal default screen. I the IPOD is running as shown and you adjust the volume the gas gauge goes away and the volume adjust display pops up, when you are done the gas gauge reappears.

After you disconect the analog gauges are the digital gauges more accurate?

The Temp gauge appears to be good. I tested it by just letting the machine idle while watching the gauge. As it warmed up the bars climbed and the fan came on to maintain the temp because it was just sitting there. As for the gas gauge it indicates what I have in the tank better than the analog gauge does right now. The other day after I filled it up and drove 80 miles the analog gauge was at a quarter tank and the first mileage check I did was at 28.5 MPG. The gauge is off. Will check it next week when I drive it to work.

thank you for the info I like the digital gauges more I don't have to look side to side to see the gauge input all in one place

Let us know if the fuel gage is more accurate than the analog gage.
Thanks:spyder:

After 200 odd K's today, IMHO yes, a LOT more accurate...:dontknow:

Thanks, I think I will disconect mine and remove the gauges and replace them with volt and oil pressure gauges if I can find out about a sending unit for the oil pressure gauge.:2thumbs:

You might have to tee into the system to use a oil pressure gauge. From the service the Engine Oil Pressure Switch is just that, it feeds either an open (GOOD pressure) or a ground (Below 4 lbs) to the ECM Module. When the engine is started and oil pressure reaches 4.4 PSI to 8.7 PSI it turns the oil light off on the console. The sensor is located on the Right hand side, bottom forward of the clutch housing. It is right by the bottom hose on the radiator.

Thanks for the info.:2thumbs:

Dead Analog Gauges

Well, I did it and it works just fine ... like it a lot. Now what to do with a dead gas and temperature gauge? I really like the digital change!

well I did it today tried to disconnect just the temp gauge it would not work you have to do both or none that is just weird :dontknow:

Not surprised. The change is done by the cluster microprocessor programming. A good programmer would have reverted each separately, in case of gauge failure, but I'm not surprised they didn't think of it. Heck, I'm still puzzled as to why they decided to program it so it couldn't give us both.

Maybe I'll replace them with an altimeter and an air speed indicator, just to mess with people's minds. :D
