• There were many reasons for the change of the site software, the biggest was security. The age of the old software also meant no server updates for certain programs. There are many benefits to the new software, one of the biggest is the mobile functionality. Ill fix up some stuff in the coming days, we'll also try to get some of the old addons back or the data imported back into the site like the garage. To create a thread or to reply with a post is basically the same as it was in the prior software. The default style of the site is light colored, but i temporarily added a darker colored style, to change you can find a link at the bottom of the site.

Belt tension

Had my belt tension check in Daytona . It was 265 LBS. was told it is low but OK. Some i was told had thier belt at 1150 LBS and where told thats on the high side but OK to. Man thats about 900 LBS. different and we where both told that it is OK.

Any idea what the tension should be and how often should we adjust it ?
 
lots of posts on this, but you are better off on the low side. Less strain on the bearings. You are actually higher than mine at 250.
 
The high belt tension is solely responsible for early failure of bearings, hubs, front pulley and main shaft. JMO.
 
Can damage be caused by running the tension too low or will it just skip teeth on the sprocket?
I asked this of a BRP engineer at homecoming in Valcour.
Answer: No. It will change the RPM where you feel belt vibration if you change the tension. It will not skip teeth because of the large number of teeth on the front sprocket..

Mine has been running "loose" since before that discussion, over 18,000 miles now. No problems.
