Street Magic Genesis LED DRL/Fog Light Kit Spy Photos

We are almost done with the design of the the New Street Magic® Genesis LED DRL/Fog Light Kit made just for the BRP Spyder.

We have had many, many people ask about how to add Super Bright fog lights to their Spyder without the expence of first having to add the BRP fog light kit.

You asked and Street Magic® listened!

So here'a a quick look at the New Street Magic® Genesis LED DRL/Fog Light Kit and some "quick spy photos" of some BETA test units.

The Street Magic® Genesis LED DRL/Fog Light Kit, unlike the BRP fog light kit will be able to be installed in just minutes, and will not require pulling apart the whole front end of your Spyder like current BRP kit does.

The Super Bright Genesis™ Series LEDs feature a 6500K color range for that clean crisp HID apperance without the high AMP draw to strain the already weak Spyder charging system like the BRP H8 or other aftermarket M16 halogen bulbs can do.

These kits also will not mess up the clean streamlined look of your Spyder by hanging anything off your frontend that looks like a total afterthought.

When installed, these units will have a factory look, fit and finish just you have come to expect from the Street Magic® line of products. :ohyea:

This kit's Quick, Convenient, Safe and Secure™ "plug and play" installation can be done in just minutes, all without any tools! :2thumbs:

The MSRP and final release date are STBD. :dontknow:

But stay tuned, as there's a whole lot of shaking going on at Street Magic® for your Spyder this season.

MM

PS: Photo #1 and #2 are of the unit actually on. Photos #3 and #4 are actually of the unit off but it just looks somewhat on due to camera flash coming back at the camera.

My wife said she would love to be a test subject for you. :D I think she already told you she was looking for something like this in Daytona.

Would it be possible to have the spy take a photo while standing behind the fender to show how much forward projection these lights have?

From what I can see so far, they look pretty darn good. :2thumbs:

Just what I was looking for Magic Man!

Evan,

Good thing you just posted this new light system, as I was looking over the net at many options for better lighting. Looked at Motolights, Baja Fuego and Clearwater's LEDs. I really like the idea of the LEDs. Will yours include a way to dim them?

I hope the price is good!

John

Exactly where are these mounted? They don't use the air inlet scoops used for the BRP fog lights. I think keeping the air scoops open helps the Spyder breath better.

They could be made to do that.

However, we have not really ever had too many people want to dim DRL lights. Seems most people always used to ask before the new Genesis LEDs came out "can they me made any brighter?"

But it could be made to do this.

Picture 2# shows their mounting location on the side of the Spyder.

Yes, I am starting to wonder why I got foglights installed in those. They can be used for a cool air intake, which the Spyder needs more than something that produces heat. These leds wont generate much heat, or draw much amperage and they are not throwing more heat into the engine compartment like the stock fogs do.

I have the stock fog lights...don't think they produce too much heat...it's a 35 watt bulb! With movement, how much heat can really be created by that?

I totally agree that LEDs are superior, in every way, but I don't think that the stock fogs will do any damage.

Are these new lights to just add to the bike on the front??? What happened to Evan's HID fog lights that go where the stock ones go??

Or, are these an addition to headlights AND foglights??...meaning, just add more lights to the front of the bike?

When do you anticipate them to be available? Looks great. I really like the LED idea. I was looking at alternatives recently. Now I will wait.

OK OHM's Law 101

Regular H8 or M16 35 watt bulbs.

35 watts time 2 bulbs = 70 watts/12 volts =5.833 amps used for regular fog lamps or M16 style lights.

Street Magic Genesis LED DRL/Fog Light Kit

350 milli amps or .350 amps per unit

.350 X 2 = .700 amps

That's less than 1 amp used for both lamps. :ohyea:

That's a big savings, as the Spyder has a somewhat weak magneto style charging system. Run the Spyder around town in stop and go low speed traffic for too long and you can actually run it out of juice with the fogs on all the time.

As for heat, try holding your hand on the lens or even the housing of an M16 style driving light after it's been on awhile and then you tell me if there is any heat?

The stock BRP housing is very large and part of that is to help it act as a heat sink for the light. Smaller M16 style lights don't have as much mass and therefore heat up real good, pretty fast.

As for the HID upgrade for the BRP fog lights we will and still have them 100%. :2thumbs:

This kit is for people who want even more light or don't want to be forced into buying a $400 BRP kit that requires them to pull the whole front end off their Spyder to install. Or for those less handy have to pay their dealer big money to do it for them.

Trouble is, Now I"ll have to pull the Spyder apart to remove the BRP fog lights. :agree:the stock location would be better served as cold air intake for air box.

I had the BRP fog lights installed when I got my bike so they've been there since day one...can your new option be mounted so that I can either use all the lights or just use these newbies and keep the fogs off unless I'm really in a fog....eh, uh, I mean...riding in really foggy weather?

I'm not sure I want to simply remove the fog lights for good, but I know that your HIDs for the headlights and fogs are in my future...they also save a lot of energy and burn cooler, I assume...is this correct?

As far as heat buildup goes, I won't burn my hands as I need them for work...I'll take your word on it...:D

Be careful. Some states limit the number of lights you can show forward.

I assume there will be a dash mounted switch:dontknow: Not much room for a handlebar switch with the risers installed. Also, how many lumens will these put out?
