• There were many reasons for the change of the site software, the biggest was security. The age of the old software also meant no server updates for certain programs. There are many benefits to the new software, one of the biggest is the mobile functionality. Ill fix up some stuff in the coming days, we'll also try to get some of the old addons back or the data imported back into the site like the garage. To create a thread or to reply with a post is basically the same as it was in the prior software. The default style of the site is light colored, but i temporarily added a darker colored style, to change you can find a link at the bottom of the site.

12000 Mile price

What's everybody paying for the 12000 mi. check-up? I have 25000 mi. on Spydie, so I'm only a few miles over the 12000, right? Oh well, time flies, but was not willing to pay $1200 when the initial check was due.

Look at it this way, this will be your "second" 12000 service so will get basicly a 2 for 1 price LOL

I bought a svc contract on mine, but had i not, I believe it would have cost me around a grand or more. YIKES:yikes:

Didn't cost me anything....didn't do it. Now have 33,000+ and have spent $460 on one tune-up. The valves have not been checked and will not until 50,000...maybe.

How does this affect the warranty if you have an issue that can be traced back to the valves? That's assuming you have a warranty.

That's what I will have to be concerned about when and if I need it. But...I figure I have saved over $6000 in not doing scheduled maintenance, so that should pretty much cover repair costs. I am probably the only one taking this chance and I don't recommend anyone else doing it. I do have the 5 year policy from Western. Will I ever need it...don't know. Do I worry? Nope, I just ride.
I have had a few warranty issues not concerning the engine and my dealer has always gotten approval from BRP and the issues were corrected.

Technically, if the dealerships have no proof that you've been doing scheduled maintenance, that alone can void your warranty. This is the case with any vehicle. Sure, they cannot force you to get service at the dealership, but they can make it painful if you have a warranty claim and there's no record that you were performing routine maintenance. If you tell them 'I've been doing it myself', that, unfortunately, in legal terms, will not hold any water.

You have to read the fine print of warranties...there are a lot of gray areas and the dealership usually holds the strong position...this isn't to say they won't help you, but you take a risk...

Just wondering how much did that contract run you dollar wise?
$1500 for 3 years unlimited mileage
Covers labor, materials, parts, etc. on all scheduled maintenance (600 mile svc, 3K, 6K, 9K, 12K, etc.) Everything but normal wear stuff like brake pads, tires, etc.
I think I may cause the price to go up if I keep riding it....LOL

12,000 mile service cost...

I had this service done in January, and the total cost was $628.00. I had 4 quarts of synthetic oil (BRP) and filter/O-ring, so they didn't charge for that. You can figure about $60.00 to $70.00 more for the oil, filter and labor depending on their labor rate per hour.
