• There were many reasons for the change of the site software, the biggest was security. The age of the old software also meant no server updates for certain programs. There are many benefits to the new software, one of the biggest is the mobile functionality. Ill fix up some stuff in the coming days, we'll also try to get some of the old addons back or the data imported back into the site like the garage. To create a thread or to reply with a post is basically the same as it was in the prior software. The default style of the site is light colored, but i temporarily added a darker colored style, to change you can find a link at the bottom of the site.

Spyder values and the Economy?

That makes me Sick hearing my original 21k investment is now only worth 11 or 12k and I've got easily 6 or 7k in aftermarket mods on my 08 SE5 I bought in Oct 08 guess I will be riding mine till he'll freezes over cause there's no way I'm taking a loss like that Sooooo rediculous I figured when I purchased it it might drop in value maybe 4 or 5k but not over 10k :-( least mines runs beatifully knock on wood

One of the sad facts about toys is that mods are generally ignored at resale...and almost always at trade-in time. In effect, no matter what you have really spent, your original investment was $15K or so, slightly more for an SE. $11-$12K isn't that bad comparing to the original cost...about average for anything but a Harley or BMW, and better than the average Honda. It's like going to the movies, it is entertainment, not an investment.

:agree::agree: When i sell a bike i throw in all the extras free to seal the deal.
Don't have room in my garage for extra parts. Think of it this way, If
you buy furniture use it for a few years you might have to pay some body to take it away. With a bike you'll get some money for it.
Bikes are not a necessary that's why very few people out side of the bike world could give rat's a** about us. Investment no way!!

I've got my GIVI's, PC-8, outlets, windshield, etc.... I honestly don't expect those to add much value to a buyer. THe only things the mods add to a private sale to someone outside the Spyder community is perhaps to sweeten the deal or to make it more attractive to that buyer.

It is one of the reasons I'll be holding onto my GS longer to ensure I get all the enjoyment out of it and the mods I've made....

Kinda like remodeling the kitchen and then soon after putting the house up for sale. You won't get all your remodeling costs back, it may make the house sell faster, but you won't get to enjoy the new kitchen.

I digress.

Can't wait to see what you're getting....

I never saw the Spyder as any kind of investment--- well--- except an investment in my own FUN. Hard to put a price tag on that, but I'm pretty sure I'll have $20,000 worth of fun just during the first 3 years of ownership!
