There are many benefits to the new software, one of the biggest is the mobile functionality. Ill fix up some stuff in the coming days, we'll also try to get some of the old addons back or the data imported back into the site like the garage. To create a thread or to reply with a post is basically the same as it was in the prior software. Spyder values and the Economy?

. . . . it sounds like you know what you are doing.

By the way, I am from Michigan, Grand Rapids. I went to WMU in Kalamazoo and I lived in Benton Harbor for a while. When I lived in Chicago, I would spend a lot of time in the Warren and Douglas areas when friends would rent cottages on 'The Lake'. Great beach times, the dunes and hang-gliding. Just the other day, I was thinking that - if it was clear of snow and ice - a Spyder ride on the Red Arrow Highway would be beautiful this time of year. Some of the best Hamburger & Hot Dog 'dives' in the USA used to be on that road. Good food, great rides and fantastic memories.

I was just planning a "Red Arrow - Blue Star" tour yesterday. Helps keep my mind off February. Lakeshore rides are my favorite in the world. I'll second the "Best hamburger dives" statement. The Redwood in Douglas was my favorite.

Go Broncos !

Ahhh-- Warren Dunes--- not quite as breath-taking as Sleeping Bear--- but only an hour or so away for me. Spent many a night star-gazing on those dunes. (even slept overnight on them a few times back in high school).
Doesn't get much better than anywhere on Lake Michigan in the Summer.

Sounds like some good, realistic advice given about the sale of a used Spyder. Even HD's don't hold their value like they used to in this economy.

Hope you can work something out--- curious to hear about the possible new ride!

I know a local guy who has a '08 with only about 250 miles on it for sale at $10,900. It's like brand new and has many options. Yet everyone still is trying to knock him down to $10K and below. If a dealer will give you $11,000 for a 3000 mile bike and not want you to purchase another bike from them I'd grab it before they wise up. I'd be willing to bet that they will give the $11k on a trade in but not as an outright purchase of your Spyder.
:agree:

I also grew up in Grand Rapids, and every once in a while I think back on all of the fun trips to Grand Haven and playing in the dunes at the lake. Then I decide it is time for a trip to the beach in order to get that out of my system again. :)

Uhhhhh . . .

I also grew up in Grand Rapids.

. . . . I didn't say I grew up there - last time anybody checked, I haven't yet. I am planning on dying of old age before that happens.:D

But yes, western Michigan was a great place to be young. I have tons of great memories and until I moved out here to New Mexico, Michigan was always Home.

Getting back on the thread track, Paingod, I hope, no matter how it works out, you let us know what it is you are looking at - I cannot think of anything I would be an upgrade to my Spyder. The only vehicle I can think of that I might 'like' to have would be a . . . . .

. . . Chevy SSR.

Best of luck!

There really isnt an upgrade to a spyder, because nothing is quite like a spyder!
.
Its just a different bike that I have been wanting for some time and was unable to find one reasonably priced............More info on it to come soon.

I have a family member who may have the x-tra cash to loan me, so I wouldnt have to sell the :spyder: (at least not at a fire sale price) waiting to hear this week!!

You have good taste.

Tom, that is a very good point about not growing up yet. :D

Paingod, I hope things can work out for you so you can keep the Spyder as well. That would seem like the best of both worlds to me. Of course, I probably already have more toys than I need as well.

I would still look in ebay for value.

Sold or not, log into ebay; Go under completed listings. (Located on the left hand side of the window about halfway down.) There you will find 40 Spyders that have been for sale in the last 3 months. If the listing is in Red, they did not sell; Green, they did. 40 listings should give you some kind of idea. Hope this helps.

I bought my 08 new in crate in April of 2009. $14k before I added my GIVI's.

I found a few 08 demos in the area that were going for about 12500 to 13000 with less than 1k miles at that time.

That dealer offering you 11k is being very generous.

I bought my new (also in a crate) '09 SM5 for $14.1+ $400 for the 5 yr warranty. Deal included the 6 spoke wheels, BRP 1" riser, & tank bag - all installed... (no sales tax here & I did the license paperwork, which was $55).

That makes me Sick hearing my original 21k investment is now only worth 11 or 12k and I've got easily 6 or 7k in aftermarket mods on my 08 SE5 I bought in Oct 08 guess I will be riding mine till he'll freezes over cause there's no way I'm taking a loss like that Sooooo rediculous I figured when I purchased it it might drop in value maybe 4 or 5k but not over 10k :-( least mines runs beatifully knock on wood

this is exactly why I buy very used....in the next 3 years, an 08 will only drop down 5,000, but a 2010 will have dropped down 15,000...i`m patient like a vulture:spyder:
