• There were many reasons for the change of the site software, the biggest was security. The age of the old software also meant no server updates for certain programs. There are many benefits to the new software, one of the biggest is the mobile functionality. Ill fix up some stuff in the coming days, we'll also try to get some of the old addons back or the data imported back into the site like the garage. To create a thread or to reply with a post is basically the same as it was in the prior software. The default style of the site is light colored, but i temporarily added a darker colored style, to change you can find a link at the bottom of the site.

iphone mounts

looking for a good iphone mount/charger for the stock handle bars of my SE5...any suggestions? Thanx!

Whatever you decide on, make sure it is waterproof...I keep my iphone in my tank bag...thing is waterproof, so no concerns. I have a zumo 550 and scala rider 2...so I can do the music and telephone thing...everything on the handlebars should be waterproofed...I'm sure there are those of us here who have something for an iphone to be mounted on the handlebars...

i used this case from otterbox
http://www.otterbox.com/handheld-pda-cases/2600-series/2600-series-pda-case/

then used a ram mount

and this powerlet adapter

i tried the ram mount aqua box but the clear cover sucked liked the otterbox much better

made a slot for the power cable and sealed with black rtv

works great

kinda hard to see in this pic but it is on the right handle bar

i use a J&M bluetooth head set and can listen to pandora around town or itunes in stereo. I bought the tomtom gps app and it works great too voice prompts over music and i can answer the phone.

With the otterbox you can use the touch screen without taking it out or opening the box but not too good with gloves

The best location for any phone on a bike is in your pocket. When riding, ride - there's no room for that kind of distraction. It's one of the main reasons why I ride - I don't want to talk on the #$$%$$# phone… :lecturef_smilie:

not if you use it for your gps
Or Dyno Runs :doorag:

Oh, man!

Forget all those old arguments about the gas and temperature gauge sensitivity and accuracy--now I can have an app that turns my iPhone into a guage that measures G-force for $12.99?!!

That's bloody awesome.

(The lovely bride used to be my G-force gauge, but since I got the backrest-- I don't know, I don't get as reliable feedback...)

I've had an iPhone since they first came out. The problem with using it for anything in a vehicle (GPS, etc) is that a call overrides the APP (one ringy dingy, two ringy dingy...).

Personally, I prefer to stash the phone & use a dedicated device - just my $0.02..

and Lamont - gotta watch those call from your girl friend in the middle of a dyno run - messes up the numbers! :roflblack:
