Spyder RT RPM

OK....a little guidence please. This may seem a stupid question, but... I've ridden cruisers for years and I'm having such a hard time keeping the rpm's up when I ride (habit hard to break).

Here's my thing.... my mpg has dropped with each tank. High of 28 mpg low of 23 mpg. I'm willing to try if you guys will give me a clear suggestion as to what are the prime rpm's to run the spyder.

I've read "keep it in the 5,000's"... so are you saying I should wait until 6,000 to shift?

Thanks Lamount...it goes against everything my brain says do, but I will try and push the rpm's on up.

Also, have you been able to run non-ethinal fuel? We have one station in town advertising 100% gasoline. Just wondering what the differance in mpg would be.

That's all I run seeing there is only one station that I can get real gas. I've had good luck with 87-89 too.

I like to keep it around 5K

Thanks Lamont, the RT & RS seem to not be the same as to the RPM to maintain . The RT seems to like RPM above 4000 and my RS seemed fine at around 4000.

That RT was the first preproduction unit I had the the cruise didn't work on it. Everything works on the SE RT I have now but to be honest I haven't used the CC that much. When I did use it it held just fine.
