I currently own a 2023 Spyder RTL with 12,600 miles on it. I contacted a dealer around 90 miles away and he offered me £26,000 for my trike and £7,000 to change. Any thoughts (I parted with £29,000 for this trike)?

I'd say he's looking to trade up. But dealerships are pretty much the same world wide. They are masters at getting you coming and going, and making you feel good about it at the same time. As long as you know this going in, well, it's your choice.
I'm too literal, I think...

That is not too much of a loss on what you paid for the 2023 in 3 years. So you give him your trade in, that is really not even broken in at 12.6K miles, and £7K for a new one. So are we saying the new one is £4K more than you paid for the 2023?

I guess you would have to decide what features the 2026 RTL has that your 2023 currently does not have. I guess Apple CarPlay would be a new feature, but is it worth £7000? Other than that, it's the same engine and transmission, probably the same body style. And 12,600 miles on your current Spyder is almost like brand new.

Only almost & running out of warranty

This is all good guy's, but we still don't know what he's looking to buy, do we! And yes, sometimes I do like it!! :ROFLMAO: GOOD ONE Ron!!🙃

Only your personal finance situation and the need for the few upgrades offered on the new model can decide that question. Personally, I would just buy an extended warranty if that's what you're looking at in a new one, and then take a nice riding vacation with the money saved. Good Luck with your decision.

I'm not much for gadgets anyway, but to me the big display ain't all that. I do like twisting the throttle forward to clear the safety message. If you like the bike you have keep it and buy the B.E.S.T extended warranty. But if something really grabs you about the new one, and you're happy with the out the door cost, do whatever puts the biggest smile on your face. As somebody said, we only go around once.

Losing £3,000 on a unit that's about four years old is a pretty good trade in deal. You paid £29,000 back then and it's going to cost you £33,000 for a 2026 model today, I'd say the dealer is making a fair deal at UK prices with UK sales tax rates.

I traded my 2021 RT LTD earlier this year for a 2026 S2S and I lost a lot more than £3,000 I can assure you.

Did I think the upgrade was worth it? Well my wife said yes, so I suppose it was.

The display is much better and most of the controls are better thought out in my opinion.

Hello weeneil,

We still don't know what Spyder you are talking about.
Model and year would be a big help.

So far, I know that your current Spyder is a 2023 RTL.
Will you be trading up to a 2026 RTL?

If this is the case, then you need to carefully 'run the
numbers'. That's what I would think about.

But I probably will stay with my 2016 Spyder RTL.
I like the idea of 'No More Payments'.

Your Money, so do what makes you happy. (y)

Yes, my trike is a 2023 RTL, his offer is for the 2026 RTL. It was a whim really, I am happy with my current Spyder, I bought it outright, so no payments. £7,000 will buy a lot of fuel (even at the prices now) and a lot of add-ons, if wanted.

A few years back I had somewhat of the same option, but with me, it was a Yamaha FJR. I was at the dealership and the new models had just came out (I think it was 2014). What caught my eye was the color. It was the only year that they released it in Red (in the USA). I have a 2008 model (Black) and there were some other upgrades they had made (Factory cruise control, 6 speed transmission, and a few more). He offered me a good trade in value (can't remember how much). What went through my mind was, mine has no issues and runs great (still does). Secondly, what I have is 100% mine, it has been paid off for a while. I think the price tag on the new one was in the $20,000 range at the time. But consider also, that after financing and the interest being paid to the bank, the amount out of my pocket would be even higher. I couldn't justify to myself the cost of the so called "upgrades". The main thing that effected my decision was that mine was paid for, I have no payments.
All I am saying is, weigh the factors between the models, and ask yourself is it worth it to you for the cost? Only you know your financial situation.
