Double vision/Blurred display on 2020+ Spyder - anyone else seen/had this?

I had a display problem on my 2021 F3 limited today. After a short ride for lunch, I returned to the bike and turned the key on. Both displays had blurry double images a half inch beside each other on them. I repeated turning the bike off and on a few times with no change. Being about 5 miles away from the dealer I drove there. The display stayed that way all the way there. The technician came out to check it out. AND as we all know the display worked perfectly. He checked for error codes and there was none. He said, just keep an eye on it. Luckily no diagnostic fee. Has anyone else had this issue? Thanks in advance.

I have read about a few others having the same issue on some Facebook groups. No real ideas or solutions as of yet.

My 21 RTL did that twice a year ago. turning off and waiting about 5 minutes cleared it up. I took a picture, but it has not occurred again.

Thanks, yeah the couple minutes waiting for the technician with it off must have reset it and it didn't dawn on my to take a picture. I was mostly in shock and it stayed on after cycling the key off and on prior. Fortunately I haven't had any issuses with the bike prior.

Double Vision Dash - I had this happen once on our 2022 F3 Limited a little over a month ago. It occurred when we first started the bike for a ride and stayed that way until we stopped for gas. After the gas stop it cleared as soon as the Spyder started and has not happened again. I did get some photos of the dash and hope I have them uploaded correctly.

Yeah, that is what my dash looked like to, it also self corrected. Hopefully just an occasional gremlin. Thanks for the for the info on the other thread also. I will check it out.

Podhouse,

It just happened to me this past weekend.

I have a 2023 F3 LTD Special Series.
I started a thread about the problem. Take a look at my thread. it has all of the details about what happened.

It looks like heat issues with the inverter for the display, which would explain the "reset" after it is turned off and it gets a chance to cool down.

How hot was it where your Spyder was? 2017 and earlier displays would blank out when they got hot. Best use of the safety card was to shade the display from the sun. Maybe the 2018+ get double vision when they get hot.

Usually heat is the culprit when it comes to lcd's but a loose connector or ribbon on the display can be an issue as well when it comes to "double vision".

For those much more wise and knowledgeable than I, I am Looking for some insight and guidance. This is on my 2020 Can-Am Spyder RT Limited with 8,714.7 miles on it. I turned the key on and this is how the display came up. I had to turn the key off, remove it, and wait for the bike to completely reset twice before it cleared. I was able to fully start it and to take it for about a 45 min run with no issues. For the record, this is not camera blur, but it kinda concerns me. Any help would be greatly appreciated.

If it happens again I would disconnect the battery and short the leads together for 10 or 20 seconds or leave it disconnect for a half hour and hook the battery back up and see it that straightens out the issue.

Remember, if you decide to disconnect the battery cables, be certain to disconnect the Negative cable first and then the Positive cable. When reconnecting the cables, ALWAYS connect the Positive cable first and then connect the Negative cable.

Happened to me once. Spyder was in the garage overnight, and when I started it up I thought I was seeing double on the gauge panel. I was running late to a doctor's appointment so I left anyway. The double vission or blurred screen lasted the entire ride there. Approximately 25 miles.
Once I was at my destination and parked, I cycled the ignition on and off several times but it didn't clear up.
After my appt was over I started the F3S, and the screen was normal. Weird. It hasn't done it since.
