There were many reasons for the change of the site software, the biggest was security. The age of the old software also meant no server updates for certain programs. There are many benefits to the new software, one of the biggest is the mobile functionality. Ill fix up some stuff in the coming days, we'll also try to get some of the old addons back or the data imported back into the site like the garage. To create a thread or to reply with a post is basically the same as it was in the prior software. The default style of the site is light colored, but i temporarily added a darker colored style, to change you can find a link at the bottom of the site.
Annoyingly, my '21 RTL will only cancel Cruise by touching the brake pedal or downshifting - are there any other ways?

Well, you stated the ways to cancel, unless you want to do it manually. It might be annoying, but it is just one of those things that you will have to get used to. Different bikes have different features. You have a choice of evolving or just sticking to the same old brand. Not being smart or anything, but that is just how it is. I find it irritating having to reach down on my 2021 RTL to adjust the windscreen. My BMW K1600 has it on the handle bars where I think it should be. But I have to adjust. And don't even get me started about how the difference on the buttons on my F3L and my RTL. Seems like they should be similar. But again, here we are and we just have to adapt. Good luck, but you will get used to it.

This whole windshield up & down on the 2020+ models thing, along with the brake pedal position, has me wanting to stay with my 2018. I took my trike course on a brand new 2020 back in the Fall of 2020, so I do have experience with the brake pedal. I have some money I want to spend, just have not figured out what to spend it on regarding toys for a 81 year old. However, now that I am down to just one Spyder, maybe a 2026 S2S is on the horizon? I will have to take my lady friend to a dealer and have her sit on one when we get back to Arizona in October. Then it starts all over again: Sway bar, GPS mount, cup holder, tires, dash cam, etc, etc.
Maybe I should just spend the money on motels for longer rides!?!

I don't find the windshield too bad, since I typically keep it in the down position anyway. But to be honest, if I had a later year model, but earlier body style like you, I would probably wait it out too. In my opinion (and only mine), the earlier models had better build quality. I loved my 2014, but really wanted an SE model, and most of all, wanted a removable rear trunk. That was more of a deciding factor than anything behind my purchasing a 2021. But we can only make that decision for ourselves. With what Can Am offers right now, I have no intentions of switching up.

Since cruise control cancelling has been discussed and moved onto windshields. I asked BRP reps at the 2024 SpyderQuest why the windshield lowers and raises automatically. The answer was to make it easier for us to cover the trike. I said really so since 2012 I've lowered it as I entered my final stop for the day and BRP decided that was too difficult to do and wants to waste valuable battery power to make it easier. He said I guess that's not the reason. I asked why the windshield button was moved from the grip to the center console, making it unsafe for me as I now have to glance down to see the windshield switch. On my earlier models it required a move of my thumb to control the position. He had no answer. Finally, I asked why BRP changed the windshield switch on the grip to volume control, giving us 3 ways to manage volume (the toggle, the switch on the grip and the button on the center console), a little over kill for volume control. Again, no answer.
Oh well, technology moves on and we adjust.

I agree, and have mentioned those exact points to many people. I had a 2014 RT, but had the same controls. I also liked the way you could change the settings on the shocks for the earlier models instead of self adjusting. That way you could make the suspension stiffer when riding in the twisties and softer when just riding the slab or cruising a nice country road.
