New relay kit from Evoluzione

I've had some input about upgraded electrical products for the spyder and thought I would share that we've put together a kit of upgraded relays to replace the four failure-prone ones in the front fuse box. This kit includes three (3) small relays and one (1) large relay.

Our new relays are rated at 35 amps (small), 50 amps (large)/14 vdc @ 125°c (the stock tyco relays are rated at only 30/45 amps). the kit price is $50 (4 relays) but as an introductory offer to spydertalk forum members we are giving a 25% discount.

very nice idea!

Just wonder, you mentioned a large relay in the front fuse box.... I've read on the 2009 or perhaps 2010 they are all the same size. Just wondering if that is true or false.

Does this kit cover the 2010 RS?

PS Do you ship to canada?
thank you.
Cheers.

That is a very good...

price for a set of relays.

Groundeffect... She has an 09 SE5 and we've had not problems with the relays but it is always a good idea to have spares.

Also the relays in the 09 SE5 are all the same Tyco small relay. /Ken

I'm NOT selling this kit...only posted Evoluzione's announcement from another website.

That's why it says "From Evoluzione"

I have no details, I don't sell, I don't ship, I don't do :cus:

I'm wondering, I have an 09 SM5, which has the four small relays in front. Yet the webpage posted doesn't have seem to have that difference, only the difference between the SM and the SE. I was thinking that all the 09s had the four smaller relays as opposed to the 08s with the 3 small/ 1 large.

Am I missing something here?

I talked with Ken at Evoluzione today, nice guy! I inquired specifically about the 2010 RS - He does not yet ship relay packages for the new RS, yet, however, perhaps once the relays for the 2010 have been confirmed, he may.

PS Thanks for your reply email, Ken.
thank you and all the best from Newfoundland.

The 2010 RS-S have 4 small relays, like the 2009 SE5.

I'd be very careful about just replacing relays. Relays are somewhat like fuses when it comes to specifying the rating on the contacts. The relay itself is just part of a circuit which includes the load and the wiring. IF the relay is going out due to a contact rating issue (as opposed to just being a junker product prone to mechanical failure) then we are simply moving the load problem somewhere else in the circuit such as the wiring or contact points.

Do we know if the relays are failing due to electrical, mechanical or environmental reasons?

Kewl stuff. Ken knows his stuff - just ordered a set--- will put those in the Spyder and use the OEM ones as the spares....

Relay question?

I just received evoluzione relay kit for 2008 SM5. This kit came with 4 small relays. My 08 has 1 big relay and 3 small relays. Does anybody know if one of the small relays will work in place of the big one?

You got the SE kit ... need to swap for that larger relay.

Simply replacing junker product made cheaply by the lowest bidder with better ones. That is the "root" of the problem.

I ordered it off their web site for the SM5. I just went back and checked the SE5 and they both have the same part # 88011. I'll sent them an email.
Could be a mis-programmed link on the site. Better check than sorry. Also you can pull the relay and check the pin outs.

Got this email from Ken at Evoluzione this afternoon. I'm good to go on the relay kit.

john,

can-am updated the relays in the later models to four smaller ones. since
our smaller relays are higher rated than your original larger one it will
work just fine.
