• There were many reasons for the change of the site software, the biggest was security. The age of the old software also meant no server updates for certain programs. There are many benefits to the new software, one of the biggest is the mobile functionality. Ill fix up some stuff in the coming days, we'll also try to get some of the old addons back or the data imported back into the site like the garage. To create a thread or to reply with a post is basically the same as it was in the prior software. The default style of the site is light colored, but i temporarily added a darker colored style, to change you can find a link at the bottom of the site.

Storage under the seat?

Autocom will fit

My Auotcom communications unit is installed under the seat. It is tight but it fits. The more central location helped. All my communication cables to helmets etc. reached without extensions.

Hey there.

Just wondering if anyone stores anything under their Spyder RS/GS seat?

Is there any real room to store stuff under there?

Thanks

I had to watch how I routed my Gerbing power cord. I wanted to run it along the "backbone" of the bike, but the seat has two plastic "saddles" molded in it that fit over that piece of steel to keep the seat from moving around. Wound up routing it along the outer edge of the under seat area and then inboard around the fuel filler neck. I did that because I am going to install the Gerbing permanent mount and intend to put that in what would be the tank area on a two wheeler.

When I get my bike back I will try and get some pictures before the end of the month.

That would be a nice addition to this thread, thanks for the offer, no rush, no worries.

For those of you how did route wires under the seat, did you put wrap the wires in protective tubing or wraps, first?

Cheers.

You'd better. Mine are wrapped in heat shrink, and then within wire loom. I used wire that is abrasion, gas/oil and heat resistant. The last thing you need is for a direct feed from the battery to short against the frame although that depends on where the fuse holder is. The fuse holder needs to be in a place that is easy to get to, and I don't feel the battery area under the side tupperware is easy enough to get at especially having the Givi hardcases and Givi racks versus the BRP Givis. The only choice I think is to cust a small access panel under the seat. The main fuse for any feed should be as near the battery as possible to protect against a short.

My '08 GS has an access hole to a remote positive terminal for jump starting, but there was plenty of room beside that remote terminal. So I went ahead and ran the Gerbing pigtail on down to the battery through that access hole. The fuse holder is right there then, easily accessible when I raise the seat.
