• There were many reasons for the change of the site software, the biggest was security. The age of the old software also meant no server updates for certain programs. There are many benefits to the new software, one of the biggest is the mobile functionality. Ill fix up some stuff in the coming days, we'll also try to get some of the old addons back or the data imported back into the site like the garage. To create a thread or to reply with a post is basically the same as it was in the prior software. The default style of the site is light colored, but i temporarily added a darker colored style, to change you can find a link at the bottom of the site.

What do you think of the 'New for 2025 - Spyder Canyon'?

My MC days are behind me so I just watched the vid and read comments out of curiosity. One of the things learned about early on in my Spyder ownership was tires! (Thank you Mike and Peter). Comments about the Canyon having a bigger load capacity make me think the tires MIGHT be upgraded. Usually load capacities are determined by the weakest link which is usually tires. Interesting to find out what the new Canyon is being equipped with. Just my sideline thoughts..... Jim

The Canyon comes equipped with 16" front tires. The rear is same 225/50R15 but in new XPS Adventure tire.

I would be very interested in some close-up photos of just what they have done to protect the belt.

I have watched the trailer demo several times and reckon, well... it's pretty mild "off road" they demonstrate.
Bout the same I do now with my F3...

Not saying it's all wahoo or anything as I do like the extra height which is a limitation.
The rear traction, same. Could easily break free, but if you're sensible you can maintain traction.
There are modes for the Canyon that dumb down Nanny even further for those who will struggle with the throttle.

For all roads and gentle stuff, I can take my F3.
If I know it's a little gnarly, well I take the white one.
It's not that much bigger and has a bigger trunk. :D

Well, BRP is expanding the range... Wonderful... Hopefully they don't come with the #%^# new 2024 screens and ACP that doesn't work.

Currently there's a big discussion on one of the FB groups about loading the Spyder on a trailer without scraping anything, and what's apt to be damaged if you do. Canyon riders shouldn't have to worry about that.

... or perhaps changing oil without a lift?

Maybe you could pass this on to the big discussion?

We use tip style trailers for quads down here. No ramps required.
No reason at all it won't transport a Spyder as they come in several sizes.

You simply Ride on; pause as it pivots down; Ride forward; Secure the locking bar; Strap it down; and tow.
Unloading is the reverse.

Maybe you guys up North have a similar type available?

Yep, we got 'em. Used a couple for years at work for transporting our commercial, front deck, riding mowers from site to site. Sometimes it was a fun challenge to reach the point where the deck would start to tilt, then try to hold it there, balancing it halfway. That's one way to add a little fun to an otherwise monotonous job. The other was driving the mower like you stole it. Hey, wait! I think I just realized something. Now that I think about it, a couple of years of experience zipping around on a riding mower might have been partly responsible to my quickly getting used to riding the Spyder. The turning forces are much the same and I find I lean into corners like I did while mowing in a spirited manner. Wow. Sorry. Didn't mean to hijack the thread...

They look an aggressive off roadish tire. Wonder if they'd spoon onto the Ryker Rally? Rear is an MC 205/55R15 Fronts are MC 145/60R16 66T, not too far away. I have heard different tire sizes can mess with the TC though.

The Bosch VSS (which includes Stability Control & Traction Control) is designed and built to still look after you and manage things to keep you safe even if one or more of your tires goes absolutely flat, or if one/more of them disintegrates!! :yikes: So you really don't need to worry too much about the tiny little difference in rolling diameter doing that ^ change would make - your Nanny, including the Traction Control, will still work fine & look after you even if just one tire is absolutely flat, so that'd maybe make one tire a difference of a bit over 4"/120mm odd flatter than the rest of your tires!

So it really shouldn't be an issue with that sorta tire change, and especially not if you keep the total change in rolling diameter to something less than a total of about 2"/50mm AND if you make basically the same increase front & rear by changing both front & rear tires at the same time! Which means that swapping to those tires/making that size difference/change should be well within the Nanny's capability!

But you'll still need to check for sufficient fender clearance front & rear too! ;)

I'm "Waiting out" for info in the belt guard setup.

Be real interesting to have a Sticky Beak at what they have come up with I reckon.
Thinking with some photos and possible a drawing with dimensions recorded
I may be able to mod something for my F3.

That being said having found that missing belt guard hiding on my new to me ride
so far it seems to have enjoyed the ride.

Has it prevented something getting in there, I guess I will never know.

Do I like it - Yes
Do I want it - probably
Do I need it - probably not
Can I afford it - nope

Can I just get a Ryker Rally with an SE6, or even better, an SM6??
