Storage under the seat?

Hey there.

Just wondering if anyone stores anything under their Spyder RS/GS seat?

Is there any real room to store stuff under there?

Thanks

No room. I couldn't even sneak the Starcom1 comm unit under there, and had so little room for the cable that it is sqaushed right out of the connector.

Barely enough room for the pigtail from my Optimate charger under there. I have to be careful when I close the seat that it doesn't get stuck.

Thanks for the replies, guys. I thought it might be a nice place for a patch kit or a rag for checking the oil, or to put the manual (in a zip lock bag), or something like that. Oh well.

Thank you again.

I zip tied my Gerbing power cord to the cable that attaches to the rear seat sensor & then poke it down in the hole that seat cable goes through when not in use. The zip tie insures it hasn't fallen too far down the hole to lose it.

(By the way, that same Gerbing cord also is what I hook my Yuasa 5-stage trickle charger to.)

YOu realize it has a trunk up front that has a tool kit, manual and is big enough to hold a fullface helmet along with other stuff not to mention its water proof.

Yes. - Just wondering about other places to store things that can't fit in the bag and corner of the stock tool kit, as I'd rather not have loose items rolling around in the trunk.

Thanks.

You know, we have one of each & will have to look. I don't recall noticing any difference, but because I have a large collection of tools in my garage, I normally would be using the kit on the Spyder anyway...

Ah ok. I have a smaller tool kit I carry in there. Its just a flat tire repair kit and I also have the trunk liner which has pockets and hooks for a cargo net which helps hold loose stuff.

Ah, the trunk liner sounds pretty neat. How do you find it, generally? Do you find it gets in the way of things like helmets or groceries you put in the trunk? Does the items in the liner tend to 'stick out' into the truck area to get caught in bigger items you may put in the trunk?

Thanks

Trunk liner is a great accessory! Holds the paperwork, flashlight, wrench for the BRP saddlebag racks, and emergency road light, etc. It also holds the MP3 player when we're on the road..that's where I ran the audio cable from the comm system. It may slightly reduce the room, but it does not get in the way, and the soft material protects your helmet and visor. It does hinder access to the toolkit and manual somewhat, but no biggie. One added bonus, you can remove it and dump out the crud if you're too lazy to vacuum.

Eh.. I don't have the liner yet. On my trip to Gatlinburg, I was able to keep things tidy in the there without the liner. Stuff was sorted and in cloth/draw string bags. It does look nice with the liner though.
