We had to put our beloved dog down yesterday January, 8th 2010. I think it was the hardest thing my wife and I ever had to do. Jaizee was a female boxer that I picked out as a pup for my now wife Jacki almost 9 years ago. Jaizee was diagnosed with terminal lower jaw cancer in July 2009 that produced a tumor in her lower jaw that ultimately took her life. After a biopsy, the vet had given Jaizee just one month to live. All we could do was make her last months the most comfortable as possible, which we did and Jaizee fought valiantly through unto the end. We will miss her everyday as we have lost our best friend. We know now she in a better place were she can be free of her cancer. With her unconditional love to us throughout her life I think heaven has taken her in with open arms and she will wait for us to be together again.

There were many reasons for the change of the site software, the biggest was security. The age of the old software also meant no server updates for certain programs. There are many benefits to the new software, one of the biggest is the mobile functionality. Ill fix up some stuff in the coming days, we'll also try to get some of the old addons back or the data imported back into the site like the garage. To create a thread or to reply with a post is basically the same as it was in the prior software. The default style of the site is light colored, but i temporarily added a darker colored style, to change you can find a link at the bottom of the site.

Having lost 2 Golden Retreivers over the years, I know what you are going through. Losing a pet is a tough thing since they give us unconditional love and loyalty. My thoughts are with you. Hope our dogs get to play in Doggie Heaven

Rainbow Bridge
Just this side of heaven is a place called Rainbow Bridge.
When an animal dies that has been especially close to someone here, that pet goes to Rainbow Bridge. There are meadows and hills for all of our special friends so they can run and play together. There is plenty of food, water and sunshine, and our friends are warm and comfortable.
All the animals who had been ill and old are restored to health and vigor. Those who were hurt or maimed are made whole and strong again, just as we remember them in our dreams of days and times gone by. The animals are happy and content, except for one small thing; they each miss someone very special to them, who had to be left behind. They all run and play together, but the day comes when one suddenly stops and looks into the distance. His bright eyes are intent. His eager body quivers. Suddenly he begins to run from the group, flying over the green grass, his legs carrying him faster and faster.
You have been spotted, and when you and your special friend finally meet, you cling together in joyous reunion, never to be parted again. The happy kisses rain upon your face; your hands again caress the beloved head, and you look once more into the trusting eyes of your pet, so long gone from your life but never absent from your heart.
Then you cross Rainbow Bridge together....

Jeff when I read your post I was thinking about the Rainbow Bridge. Then I come down and see it posted. Over 4 yrs ago I lost the cat in my avatar. I miss her every day. Our pets become part of our family and their unconditional love help us through lifes tough parts, I tell people my children all have 4 feet and a tail, and remember we will someday be able to walk across the bridge with them.

We lost our golden retriever Boomer about five years ago. He felt his job was to keep squirrels out of the yard and toads off the patio. The toads used to be a huge problem on the patio. Boomer would gently pick them up and put them in the grass by the back fence.
To this day, no toads on the patio. Twice, we have seen him running around the yard. First time it was kinda spooky, second time... comforting.
I truly feel there is a special place in heaven for our pets. Also know they come down to visit us once in a while.

Had to put my horse down 7 yrs ago. Still look for her in the pasture.
My lab(super dog) has a bad hip and doing everything We can to keep him healthy. Was in training for Search and Rescue, retired from agility with 3 titles. Now does visits to nursing homes and works two afternoons a week at physical rehab. dept.
I sure hope they go to heaven!!

Very sorry about Jaizee! I lost a black lab a few years back - he escaped his yard and was hit by an old lady. We had to put our cat, Max, down in July - that truly sucked. Yup animals are definitely a part of the family and bring so much joy and love to us. But Jaizee is up in Heaven now, yup, free of her cancer and probably chasing my cat Max!

When we had to have our rotti Zoe put down because of bladder cancer it was one of the saddest days of my life, and still makes me sad just writting this.
I am sorry for your loss, and I know how hard it is with the empty house now.
But please know this, just like we had to let our dog Zoe go from her pain and suffering on this earth and that she is in a better place. your dog too is now free from the pain and suffering and waits with wagging tail for you on the other side.

I'm very sorry for your loss. My husband and I have had dogs throughout our entire marriage. We've had to make decisions about ending pain or poor quality of life many times. I know what you went through to make the decision you did.
Over the years I have finally come to believe that ending a dog's pain and suffering is the last gift that we give them in this life. I know all our decisions to euthanize a dog were made out of kindness. I also know that it breaks your heart. But that's just a sign of how close a bond was made between you and your dog.
In time, the wonderful memories of your dog during good times will outweigh the sadness you feel now. Sure, there will always be a pang of sadness when you think of not having that dog by your side. But to think of them free from pain and suffering, running through green fields playing as young dogs again is comforting. At least it is for me.

Blazer, my first Golden, came home after a "run". We lived in farm country and he just "roamed" and all the neighbors ( Not very many there) knew him. His head was misshapen and I immediately took him to the Vet. Vet said it was definitely not a car...looked like someone hit him with a 2x4. Within 2 days the same thing happened to our neighbor's Chocolate Lab, two Huskies down the road disappeared, as did the local "junk yard dog" ...all large breeds. We think someone was supporting a drug habit by killing large dogs to be sold as lab animals.
I couldn't put Blazer down...Vet said he was severely brain damaged but not in pain. He fought valiantly for 2 months but eventually lost the battle. I still dream of him

I don't usually promote anything, and it might not be the right time for you to read this. Jon Katz wrote a new book "SOUL of a DOG". Has some interesting insight from olden times thru today on dogs and their soul's.

I am SOOOOO sorry to hear about your Boxer!! I have three Boxers of my own and I am a long-time volunteer with NorCal Boxer Rescue (we currently have a white male at home whom we are fostering). I lost my first dog, a Boxer female, a few years ago, and being in rescue I have heard many heartbreaking stories about the ones that didn't make it, and the ones that were loved and were able to cross the Rainbow Bridge in peace. It's hard to lose them suddenly like that. 
Of course your beloved pet will be waiting for you... right now she is happily playing free of pain and full of life with those others who have crossed over, including my Tara.
