• There were many reasons for the change of the site software, the biggest was security. The age of the old software also meant no server updates for certain programs. There are many benefits to the new software, one of the biggest is the mobile functionality. Ill fix up some stuff in the coming days, we'll also try to get some of the old addons back or the data imported back into the site like the garage. To create a thread or to reply with a post is basically the same as it was in the prior software. The default style of the site is light colored, but i temporarily added a darker colored style, to change you can find a link at the bottom of the site.

Does this heat shield kit for GS/RS make a difference?

The 'missing heat shield' will help keep heat from the rad off your leg. The 'missing air dam' helps more air to flow thru the radiator, which is a good thing. I made my own soon after getting my GS.

I had one of the early SM (2008) and early SE (2009). We lived in Alaska and had no overheating problems that we were aware of. That was one accessory that we did NOT add.

In Alaska, you probably didn't need it as much as say someone from the Midwest!!! just saying :dontknow:

Very true. 70 degrees was about as hot is it got in Anchorage. We did move to the Southern Midwest. It does get hot down here in Arkansas. Our first year here (2019) we went to a rally in OK. Got stuck in bumper to bumper traffic in 100 degrees. Sure enough, Linda's 2011 overheated and we had to pull off to let it cool down. The same happened to us a few years earlier in Maui Hawaii. We rented a GS model, got stuck in traffic, due to an accident that shut down the road, sure enough the bike overheated and we had to pull it over to cool down.

So I can also say I have been there and done that.
