You have quite a trip planed, hope everything goes well and have a great time.

Bit early to say for sure but I'm betting you will have a couple of Spyders to help get you all started for a little way at least. Do you hear me Missouri!

I'll ryde with ya, at least from Barstow to Santa Monica. You did notice that the museum in Barstow is only open Fri-Sun, right? I wasn't sure if you planned on visiting there or not. Maybe we can get some of the West Coast Spyder ryders on your trip through the SouCal. They love ryding.

That'd be GREAT!!

I missed the fact that the museum is only open Fri - Sun so I changed the sched to depart a day earlier

So that people don't have to calculate, I changed the itinerary to reflect dates rather than days. Now we hit Barstow on Sunday morning and the museum is definitely on the list

You are going to have so much fun!!! We sure did.

Check out the Route 66 museum in Clinton, OK and I sure hope you try to eat the 72oz steak in Amarillo. :joke:

Make sure you also stop in Seligman, AZ for the Roadkill Cafe. :D

Also, traveling across the desert in Nevada and California at that time of the year can still be VERY hot. Be prepared to sit in a long HOT line of cars going over the Hoover Dam.

I've been giving that steak a lot of thought, as well as the Roadkill Cafe. But I need a translator for the RK Cafe's menu :roflblack:

Good luck finding the Bug Ranch. I never did find it.

All good spots. Don't forget stopping in Seligman to see the Delgadillos' barber shop and store.

You're timing this right. May is a good time to go through the desert areas before they get all 100=degree'd up.

trip

Sounds like a great trip. That was my plan when i first bought my spyder was to by it on the east coast and ryde it to the west coast. Think it will be a great trip for you have fun and check in so we know how much fun you are having.

Don't forget the Cross

Don't forget the Cross in Groom, TX. And when you're there give us a call. We live two blocks off of Route 66/Business I-40. Would be cool to get together and have lunch or something.

There could be snow in the Sierras and possibly closed passes heading east out of central California... even in late May. Just a heads up.

Hopefully we can get some West Coast Spyders to meet up with you in Barstow, couple of good eatin places there Idle Spurs Prime Rib is excellent. House of colema good mexican food.:yes:

Would LOVE to have you join us. Unfortunately Barstow is our first leg of Day 8 and won't be able to take advantage of the restaurants

:agree:with Mo Lee,, I am in,, give us plenty of notice, we can meet you in Cuba, MO and ryde with you for a ways :2thumbs:

Sunday, May 16 sounds great!!! BUT, you didn't add a little extra time for any real visiting with other spyder members who are hooking up with you!!!!

MEET, GREET, and RYDE.......

Look forward to having you join us. It is virtually impossible to program in individual Meet & Greets. We planned on 1) Meet & Greet when we actually meet and 2) sharing a meal depending on the time of day we meet...breakfast at the start of the day or lunch/dinner during or at the end of the day's ride

:agree:That is almost impossible to do individual meet & greet!

Breakfast or Lunch sounds good to us (speaking for the others here also), I am pretty sure and hope Mo Lee and xpeschon can join us, More the better :2thumbs:

On Mon, May 17, add Afton, OK to your list. There is an old DX gas station now restored as a museum with lots of old Packards and other neat stuff. Also, nearby are a few original sections of 9-foot-wide Rt 66 that you can ride thru the fields...

Your Day 6 and 7 needs to add the mileage from Williams up to Grand Canyon NP. Also, you might spend more time there and stop in Kingman for the night. The ride from Seligman to Kingman is beautiful and fast (Hackberry General Store is wworth a stop), but from Kingman to Needles will take you longer than you expect -- its a very curvy road and you often are reduced to 25 mph. Also, on that stretch you'll want to stop in Oatman and say hello to the resident burros. I did that stretch at the end of a day riding from Grants Pass, NM to Needles and it was a much longer stretch than I thought it would be -- took me about 2 hours I think and I should have just stopped in Kingman. In any case, no gas between Kingman and Needles.

I may try to join in on May 23rd -- Needles is as far as I made it before heading home out 40, up 395 on the eastern side of the Sierra to Tahoe, then over to Sac town. Sure like to do the rest of Rt 66 in CA! Yes, it can get hot, but an early start helps -- May should be fine weather. When I left Needles in late July, it was over 100 at 5 AM....
