• There were many reasons for the change of the site software, the biggest was security. The age of the old software also meant no server updates for certain programs. There are many benefits to the new software, one of the biggest is the mobile functionality. Ill fix up some stuff in the coming days, we'll also try to get some of the old addons back or the data imported back into the site like the garage. To create a thread or to reply with a post is basically the same as it was in the prior software. The default style of the site is light colored, but i temporarily added a darker colored style, to change you can find a link at the bottom of the site.

Info re: Spyders to the Rescue, Spyderstore.com, & jthornton

John Thornton developed several products for Spyders which he sold on https://spydersstore.com/. One of his more popular items was the dual fill air hose. Another valuable service he provided is the Spyders to the Rescue website. There is a link to it on the SL home page (upper left). Unfortunately, he lost the Rescue database when he changed web providers so the link on the home page leads to dead database connections.

John sold his Spyder in May 2022 and has given up Spyder ryding and turned his interests elsewhere. Hence he no longer posts on SL. He has discontinued active production of his products. Some are still available on his store site, but he plans to let the store disappear when the web registration expires in December 2023. His air filter for the 998 is now being handled by Baja Ron.

He will try to resurrect the Rescue page which would be great resource for Spyderlovers members.

The info above is what he shared with me in an email this morning.

Check out his store and purchase whatever interests you and is still available. And let us all hope he is able to bring the Rescue page back online although its future may be questionable even then.

Thank you for that explanation Idaho. I will be sorry to see him go, he had some good advice on Spyder service. I have his air filter on my 2012 and it has served well.

Looks like he still has the dash bar in stock for 2019 and earlier RT's. His products will be missed.

Thanks for all the kind words guys, just to let you know I'm doing well and when my new truck arrived it had to go into the garage so I had to make a hard decision and sell something to make room as we have wood rats out here and they just love to chew wire...

Doing a search of my NAS I found a thousand .csv files and low and behold one is the Spyders to the Rescue .csv file buried very deep in the file tree... so I can restore it on gnipsel.com or if someone else want to host it I can let them have it.

This listing needs some of our current members to sign up and fill in the states that have no representation. States that I noticed with no one listed are North Dakota, South Dakota, Wyoming, Arizona, New Mexico. I am sure there are many more in the mid west and east. Check the list and see if your state or province is represented and could they use better coverage. Add your name. It's great that JT has brought this back to life so let's make it useful.
