• There were many reasons for the change of the site software, the biggest was security. The age of the old software also meant no server updates for certain programs. There are many benefits to the new software, one of the biggest is the mobile functionality. Ill fix up some stuff in the coming days, we'll also try to get some of the old addons back or the data imported back into the site like the garage. To create a thread or to reply with a post is basically the same as it was in the prior software. The default style of the site is light colored, but i temporarily added a darker colored style, to change you can find a link at the bottom of the site.

HowTo: DIY Car tire mounting

I installed red head drop in anchors in my floor so I can bolt in the tire changer as needed and when I remove it nothing sticks up from the floor. I like the hitch idea, you can "take it on the road".

I am fortunate to have an AMI certified mechanic as a neighbor. Whenever I need tires mounted, or anything else for that matter, he's my go to guy. We always barter for each other's services.

I love Dyna Beads. I buy them in a 20 lb tub. They come with a chart to tell you how much to put in a tire according to its size. Most car tires require 3½ to 4 ounces per tire. It’s far easier to dump them in before you set the bead, although it is possible to put them in through the valve stem on an already mounted tire.

I used balancing beads in my huge RV tires. Are these commonly used in motorcycle tires?

They’re awesome on bike tires!

Not trying to take this thread down a rathole, but when you say motorcycle tyres, are you referring to your 2 wheel motorcycle, dmiles, or your Spyder? I only ask as the Spyder tyres are effectively car tyres, and as such, yes, Dyna beads are used in the Spyder tyres.

Pete.

Hey Pete (& Daniboy ;) ) - :oldpost: - Well, maybe not really way old, but Daniboy did dig up a thread that hadn't seen any posts since about May last year, not long after that post from dmiles was put - and looking deeper, it looks like dmiles hasn't visited the forum since September last year anyway, so don't be too disappointed if it takes a while to get a response, if you get one from him at all?! :dontknow:

Just Sayin'

Sure the earlier posts are from a year or so ago, Peter, but the post I was responding to was from yesterday, where two people mentioned Dyna beads and “bike” tyres. I was simply trying to confirm if those posters were under the misapprehension that Spyder tyres were the “bike” tyres to which they were referring.

i.e. trying to clarify the old chestnut “Special Motorcycle Use Only”…..meaning don’t try to mount these on a “normal” motorcycle, or on a car, as disaster will ensue…..thus covering BRP’s backside.

Pete

+ 1 on Use plenty of Lube & Patience!

I really slop that tyre paste like there is no tomorrow.
Over kill but I do both the rim and the tyre.

I like easy.

And I dont mind to replying to older threads if blokes can pick up some info they were not aware of.
