• There were many reasons for the change of the site software, the biggest was security. The age of the old software also meant no server updates for certain programs. There are many benefits to the new software, one of the biggest is the mobile functionality. Ill fix up some stuff in the coming days, we'll also try to get some of the old addons back or the data imported back into the site like the garage. To create a thread or to reply with a post is basically the same as it was in the prior software. The default style of the site is light colored, but i temporarily added a darker colored style, to change you can find a link at the bottom of the site.

Tire milage report

BLUEKNIGHT911

Sadly Passed Oct 2024 - RIP
Six years ago I managed to shoe horn a pair of Altimax RT 43 tires ( front ) onto my 14 RT ( old style fenders ), I just swapped them out for a pair of Vredestein Q-5's .... I put 42,570 mi. on them and they were still decent even in the wet ..... That's the longest I've EVER had front auto tires ....... Three years ago I put a Perilli P-4 + on the rear only got 25,526 from that tire and it didn't have the traction the Altimax's had ...... I also swapped that Pirelli for a RIKEN HP 215/60-15 ( with a 520 UTOG rating ).... which I discovered about a year ago ( have them on my Cobra ) ..... I'll post in a new Thread after I've driven it in the WET ...... Mike

The Cobra is a roadster ( NO TOP - period ) so I don't drive it in the rain ...... Mike

That's if you drive it in the sun ... Freudian slip maybe?

Sorry for getting off-topic....now back to our original programming...

BTW, the Spyder is also a 'Roadster' :dontknow:

Wet traction is one of my least concerns. I avoid riding on wet surfaces whenever possible. That being said, I experienced one wet condition in heavy traffic where the only object to guide me was the tail light of the vehicle in front of me. I could only see (focus) on one tail light at a time. Being on a 1K pound vehicle with 3 car tires supporting it, traction was near "-0". It was squirrely as all get out. Couldn't see to safely pull over, couldn't see what was behind me, and I hoped I was visible to other drivers near me. That seemed to go on for an hour or more but was in actuality only about 10/15 minutes if that. I saw the whole thing coming at me and didn't realize just how bad it was. In retrospect, I should have pulled over but I thought, what the hell, how bad could it be? Well, I found out just how bad, and I'll never do that again!

I've posted on this many times ..... there are NO tires that won't, can't hydroplane ... In Gran Prix racing the WET road tires they use cost about $ 1000 + each and even they will hydroplane ..... Using a tire that is Better in the WET is insurance.... otherwise then you can put DOT Track tires on the Spyder.... I wouldn't, but that's just me .... have fun .... Mike
