There are many benefits to the new software, one of the biggest is the mobile functionality. Ill fix up some stuff in the coming days, we'll also try to get some of the old addons back or the data imported back into the site like the garage. Which Vredestein - Quatrac or Quatrac 5?

Depending on which model/fenders you have, shimming might be necessary to increase the fender width a touch. Also, a wider tire may be a bit more prone to hydroplaning in heavy rain. I wouldn't like that on my steering tires. Just something to ponder...

But the customers who did purchase them were very happy. And I've heard others with good reports.

I intend to carry these tires (I ordered several sets, we'll see how many I actually get). I have high hopes for them. But I don't want to personally recommend them until I've had a chance to run them myself.

I should get about 6-7K out of the rear Kanine that I bought from you last spring. I only got 4K out of the OEM Kenda. And yes, it is wearing in the center just like the OEM, just not as quickly.

I have already bought a Kumho Ecsta AST for the next one to go on the rear - If I get 10-12K out of it I will be satisfied with it assuming it performs the same (hopefully better).

IMO, any tire that doesn't balloon in the middle like the Kenda should be a better tire not just from a wear point of view: Having more effective tread on the road is always better, especially on wet roads.

I have had a pair of the new Quatracs for the front on order for a couple of weeks now - due to supply issues they are expected here in late Feb or early March.

What size Quatracs did you order for the front?

165/60 - just a tad taller than the OEM size but the same width.

They told me when I placed the order that it would be late Feb or early March but I see that the Tire Rack website now shows them in stock so I will have to check with them to see where mine are.:gaah:

For the front tires, is the Vredestein Quatrac 175/55R-15 the closet size to OEM? And does that size fit without modifying or shimming of the fenders?

They also make a 165/60/15 which may be a closer size to OEM
however both will fit and work fine.

I see I've sorta ask the same question before on this thread, my bad i'll blame my dementia that I didn't know i had. Between the two sizes quoted above what are the pros and cons between the two sizes. I do not want to have to shim fenders.

Just a tad taller doesn't sound like a bad thing to me considering the precious little clearance they have in the first place. Still would like to know the diff between 175/55 and 165/60. I've never really understood tire sizes very well, I know it's a ratio but still doesn't make a lot of sense to me

Answering my own question. Just used the tire size calculator link someone posted previously. Looks like OEM is very slightly skinner and very slightly shorter than the 175/55 option. Difference looks almost negligible to me.

And OEM compared to the 165/60: OEM is a little shorter (.3 inches) and both are the same width. So now I could feel comfortable ordering OEM size or either of the other two sizes. But since I'd prefer not to have any wider tire on the front and I think the very slightly taller tire is a plus I think my preferred replacement in Vredestein would be 165/60-15. Please let me know if I'm wrong in my analysis.

Well this is a Thread I missed .... my computer CPU died :gaah: ..... & I didn't get back on-line for over a week ...... The Quatrac is the replacement for the " Q-5 " which was the best all-around tire for Spyders .... The " Quatrac " does have slightly better ratings nthan the Q-5 ...... Mike

Since this is what I did, I agree with your analysis.

Yeah, on Saturday I saw that their website was showing them back in stock so I contacted them about my backorder but I have not heard back from them yet. Hopefully, I will get them this week.

EDIT: Heard from Tire Rack. My tires should be here this week. Long story short, some Tire Rack warehouses have the tire in stock but not the main warehouse. My local Tire Rack warehouse is literally 3 miles away so my order was setup to ship there for pickup to save me $20. But they don't ship from warehouse to warehouse so my order was backordered until they got the tires in their main warehouse (Ohio?) which looks like late Feb or early March. I opted to change my order to ship them to my home now from another warehouse (Delaware) foregoing the $20 discount. With all the supply chain issues still going on, I figured it was worth the $20 for peace of mind knowing I will have the tires when I do change them. This is the first time I have bought from Tire Rack and I highly recommend them. They were very easy to work with and provided excellent explanations and support.

What is the projected mileage for the Vredestein Quatrac rear tire?

From what I've read here .... it's similar to what other AUTO tires are getting ...... There are a couple of " long wearing " tires that have been used, but I think they had UTOG numbers above 700 :gaah: .... Mike ..... PS remember ... no matter what you use the front and the rear wear very differently....... jmho .... Mike

I got 13000 miles from the Q5 rear before switching to an Altmax RT43. I push tires pretty hard. I'm going back to the Quatrac line because the RT43 has far less traction than the Q5 had - especially in the cold temps. Long mileage isn't worth the loss of stickiness.

I agree completely!

Another member " tenino spyder " .... put 23,536 mi. on His rear Q-5, He changed it out early because it was convenient ( He est. another 3000 + safe miles could have been gotten ) ... He has reported that He always rides double and is at the weight limit for His RT .... just sayin .... Mike
