• There were many reasons for the change of the site software, the biggest was security. The age of the old software also meant no server updates for certain programs. There are many benefits to the new software, one of the biggest is the mobile functionality. Ill fix up some stuff in the coming days, we'll also try to get some of the old addons back or the data imported back into the site like the garage. BRP tech worked on Spyder today

Just talked to my dealer. BRP tech took my Spyder out ryding and he had no steering issues. However, They are replacing it w/ a new DPS. Dealer told me this DPS is brand new - with improved torque sensors. He said they are thinking this could be a torque sensor problem so hopefully I won't have another issue. I only had it twice in TN but haven't ridden it that much in CT once we got home. So I guess I'll be getting it back on Saturday or Monday. I'm just glad that the DPS is different and more improved - I hope this fixes the cause with everyone's Spyder! Keep your fingers crossed.

fingers crossed, toes crossed, eyes crossed..... at least until I go riding. :)

I do hope it fixes things and that your bike runs well and you're safe.

I hope this gets everything fixed for you, Kim.

I'll be honest. I haven't officially put the Spyder away for the winter. But I haven't ridden it in 5 weeks. All these troubles people have had have just put me off. And, I'm not ready to make a final decision on things. So I'm basically in denial. I'll probably winterized the bike were it sits. Then I'll have successfully not dealt with things for another few more months.

I'll address all my fears and also any recalls to recalls to recalls etc, etc. Come end of March early April. I can't cope with everything any better than this. The Spyder can't be a bust. It just can't.

Well if it works good when I get it back, I won't be putting it away - I have Gerbings, I'll be nice and warm :) Now if I can just find a nice pair of heated gloves that aren't so thick. I'll just have to swap over to the Fullface but I'll still ride for a while. I can do about the 40's before I absolutely cave and sometimes I'll ride on the back w/ HDX - he rides so long as there is no snow on the road. So he can basically go all year round.

Glad to hear you got some good news. I also am glad the new dps is not exactly the same as the old one. I have concerns about them just replacing parts with the originals... kinda puts it back like it was before all this happened. If this new dps is better then maybe it will fix the issue. Fingers crossed:2thumbs:

I'm hoping that's it and it will work. Still gonna take me a while to not have it in the back of my mind when riding. Not sure if it's good news or not - I would have liked to see the tech experienced what I did w/ my bike but my dealer assured me he experienced on other bikes. Well something's better than nothing I guess - let's hope it's fixed. I hope they find out what's gonig on w/ yours - it won't even turn on now?

That is great news. Hope it fixes all your steering issues.

Replacing old, defective parts with identical new parts isn't necessarily a bad thing. I know you are getting new, improved so it doesn't apply here.

Sometimes a normally great part is defective. It gives you problems but not because there is something inherently wrong with design. Individual units can be bad and replacing them with a good, new, identical part is just fine.

Of course if BRP has discovered a pervasive defect or engineering flaw then an upgraded unit is the way to go.

Sometimes the prototype units are just fine but the production units do not meet the same standards in all cases. Defective units may not show up right away.

The "New and Improved" units may simply be the result of a tightening of production standards to meet the original specs.

Not sure exactly whether it would start or not, the tech just told me that he had bad news, that the parts that they changed did not work, that they could not get the computer to reset and it kept showing codes, mostly for the dps. He said he had talked to brp and kurt and they had decided it must be a faulty dps. They are overnighting another dps unit from Canada and the dealer would install it and report back to them and to me. This was all after the replacement of several sensors, the dps, and they replaced the computer twice to see if that was the problem. Guess we will have to wait and see what this new dps does. He didn't tell me that the dps unit was different than the original, so I don't know if that is the case. I know the spyder tech at RideNow is off Sun-Mon so it will probably be Tuesday before he can get to it... that is if the parts come in. Keeping fingers crossed. Glad to hear yours is doing better. :2thumbs:

Interesting.

I will have to remember to bring HDX's gloves also. It would be great to get a ride in with you guys again.

Here's my update

There is no update - still not working. But they are working on it. And through all this mess, I really see that they are trying to resolve this. They don't want anyone to get hurt.

so, that's that I guess. I totally trust my dealer and I'm glad I brought it in and really hope they can find what's going on. Better it sit there and be looked at than me hitting someone or a tree or a car. Just a little bummed out that the sun is gonna be out a little this weekend and I gotta ride as passenger again. No offense, HDX, I love riding w/ ya but I sorta got used to riding my own. BUT I get to dress like a Harley Chick for a while now :doorag: Just not a great way to end the season I guess but I'm glad this wasn't in the shop during peak riding season.

I do have faith in my dealer and faith in the tech guy that came from BRP to check out the issue that something will be resolved. Just gotta keep saying to myself It is what it is.:dontknow::banghead:

Well with me not driving - that means I can start my happy hour any time I want now!

Boy a cigarette would sure go nice w/ happy hour! nojoke

I know EXACTLY how you feel. My hubby has a Harley too and for now I will just ride Harley girl style. Well like you said it's just wait and see and hopefully it will all work out for the better.
