• There were many reasons for the change of the site software, the biggest was security. The age of the old software also meant no server updates for certain programs. There are many benefits to the new software, one of the biggest is the mobile functionality. Ill fix up some stuff in the coming days, we'll also try to get some of the old addons back or the data imported back into the site like the garage. To create a thread or to reply with a post is basically the same as it was in the prior software. It has rained yesterday and today.
We finally get a break tomorrow and the weekend. But storms again for Thursday and Friday :gaah:
Wish this rains stops so we can put a roof on. Now our construction crew are going to work Saturday and Sunday."This rain is killing us"!!!

Just be happy. My spyder is in hibernation right now and I won't be able to ride it until the end of March!

Almost in Hibernation here also. Last days of ryding:
Oct. 31st, Halloween Ryde
Nov. 11th, Veteran's Day, Parade Ryde
Dec, Our annual Christmas Parade Ryde

Not sure how I am going to handle the cold in Nov or Dec :helpsmilie:
That's it for me also, till March!

ryde

Raining in Macungie PA and it looks like tomorrows a wash out. Plan on riding Thursday thru. Sunday. I'm shooting for riding until the first snow fall, which around here just might be sooner then I want any way. Darn I hate winter, 4 more years and I might be able to move south or west.

I was raised in Mo - about the only thing I remember as a Kid are the lightning bugs and the :cus: weather. Between the bugs & weather, I wouldn't even drive a convertible...

Here in the great NorthWet - West of the Cascades, we'll get at least ONE riding day a week, outside of mid-December to mid-February. On the Eastside of the Cascades, you'll see over 300 riding days....

We got year round ryding weather here in SouCal. Except today, blowing 25+. Truck needed to have a battery charge anyway driving to work. Poor thing. Hasn't seen much of me since I got the :spyder2:.

It can get pretty cold here in the winter, but we usually don't see snow. We are supposed to go to Ohio for Thanksgiving, and I think we are going to try to find a couple of snowmobile suits. Of course they don't sell anything like that down here that will keep someone warm. I am hoping that and a good warm pair of gloves will enable us to ride for most of the year.

As for the rain, my Spyder has been ridden more in it than out of it since I bought it. I don't want to ride in the rain on purpose, but it is good to know the Spyder performs very well if you have to. :)

Don't worry sweetie, hopefully they will get the roof done and we will be able to ride this weekend.

I've been riding for 35 years, and have only ridden in the rain 5 or 6 times (no choice). I just bought a covered trailer & now take the Spyder for most of my weekend trips - if the weather's decent, out she comes, if not, she's locked & dry.... I avoid riding wet or when the temperture drops below 38.....

:yikes: I've been riding 50+ years, and sometimes feel like a drowned rat, in comparison. I've ridden that many times in the rain in a week! :yikes:

:agree: Yep. 40+ years of riding for me, and I have logged thousands of miles in the rain. I would prefer riding when the weather is nice, but I have never let the rain stop me. Snow is a whole other story, but I have found myself riding (unplanned) in the snow a few times as well...:ohyea:

Riding in rain on a Spyder is a lot better than on a two wheeler.
What sucks is over taken a semi.or being over taken by a semi. on the freeway in the rain.
I am going to ride through the winter here. Arkansas winters usually have a few nice days every week or so. I hope.

Second weekend I had the Spyder I went on a trip to Maggie Valley. This was during the Thunder in the Valley rally. It was also the weekend it rained so much that they were evacuating parts of Asheville NC, and Atlanta GA. We had to ride all of our bikes home in that mess, and I was the only one on a Spyder. I put well over 1,000 miles on it in the rain during that trip alone.

That is what happens sometimes when you ride your bike to a trailer rally. ;)

Not sure I completely agree with that statement, Mike. I have put a lot of miles on two wheelers over the years in the rain, and I have never experienced hydroplaning on one, whereas I certainly did have that happen on my way home from Gatlinburg on I-75. Granted, this only seems to occur where there is fairly deep standing water, but I would have sliced through it without a problem on my Kawasaki Concours. The Spyder, however, got a little bit exciting. As I started to skim and slide over the surface, I rolled off the throttle and it settled down, but it is a disconcerting feeling none the less. This is a handling characteristic that BRP recognizes and cautions us about in the Owners Manual, so I can't say I wasn't warned. :lecturef_smilie:

The hydroplaning of the Spyder is a nuisance, but it is still the safest I have ever felt in the rain. I have only experienced hydroplaning once on a two-wheeler, and it sacred the bejeebers out of me. :yikes: I never want to experience that again! Worst part of two wheels in the rain is having to put down your foot in standing water at a stop. Don't have to do that on a Spyder. :D
