• There were many reasons for the change of the site software, the biggest was security. The age of the old software also meant no server updates for certain programs. There are many benefits to the new software, one of the biggest is the mobile functionality. Ill fix up some stuff in the coming days, we'll also try to get some of the old addons back or the data imported back into the site like the garage. To create a thread or to reply with a post is basically the same as it was in the prior software. The default style of the site is light colored, but i temporarily added a darker colored style, to change you can find a link at the bottom of the site.

Garage door control

I was reading American Motorcyclist today and saw an ad in the benefits section for a garage door opener kit that will open the door with the flash of the high beams. I do not own this product or know anyone that does but I do remember some threads where some people were looking for a place to carry their controllers this may be a more convenient alternative.

Flash to pass.

I purchased the flash to pass garage door opener. The only problem I had was getting to the wires going to the headlight. I ended up hooking the transmitter to the horn on the Spyder. Now when I pull up to the garage, I just hit the horn twice and the garage door opens. Works great.

I have two key chain remotes for our garage door. THey suck. I'd bend over and the garage door would open when a key on my key ring would press the button. Made me paranoid.

So... Like some others have done here, I'll be pulling the circuit card out of one of them and hard wiring a lead and momentary switch that I will mount within reach on the spyder. No need to buy anything custom.

In fact, anyone can buy a cheap opener and modify it in this manner.

The button will be small, and black and in a place that most people won't see it if I choose to leave my Spyder out in the driveway....

My wife would love that, no more sneaking-in late! I guess you are a very well behaved guy! :roflblack:

Installed the "Autoswitch" to my high beams and it is awesome. Very easy to install. You need to do a little hard wiring to an opener but install after that took 5 minutes. Been meaning to post a video on the install but haven't gotten around to it. Maybe some picks later tonight. If anyone needs help on it just call. 920 9159301.

Flash 2 Pass Door Opener

Well I just installed the "Flash2Pass" garage door opener which uses 2 flashes of your hi-beams to open or close your garage door. And FYI, it is not a "photo sensing" device.

This system uses a "receiver" unit which sits in-line (parallel) with your door opener. It can be piggy-backed onto your door's wall switch or directly to the door opening unit where the wall switch is wired into. The "transmitter" is then wired to the bikes hi-beam wires (behind the left head lamp assy & a pain in the butt to get to). A rider simply "Flashes 2x" their hi-beam (which generates a signal) and the door begins to move. If you move to a new home, simply take the "receiver" with you and connect it to your new door opener and you are back in business!

I like this system because it will always be with the bike and rider - not to mention it takes no "battery" to use (power is supplied by the bikes hi-beam circuit).

I apologize ahead of time for the lack of pics but didn't think about taking any until writing this.

I think this is good for people whose drive is aligned with the garage. However, my driveway comes in at a 90 degree angle to my garage but I can open it when I'm about halfway down the drive and the door is open when I get there. Flash2Pass would require me to be "within sight" of the sensor...don't want to wait in the rain

There's an app for that. :D http://mydooropener.com/

I had an extra door opener and soldered a couple wires across the contacts and wired them to a momentary contact switch on my dash. Been working great for the last two yrs. :ohyea:

Just out of curiosity, what are the different switches/lights surrounding your console for?

NOT TRUE!

It works like any other door opener. It simply uses the "flash" as a switch. THERE IS NO NEED TO MAKE A PHOTO CONNECTION (think about trying to use a photo sensitive switch during the day! Ineffective at best.)

If you can open your door with your regular remote while just pulling into your driveway, then this will do the same! My own driveway sits 90-degrees and I can begin to open it BEFORE I pull into my driveway! I just had to learn to "flash" at the correct rate (not to fast and not to slow). And my hands NEVER leave the hand grips! SWEEEEEEET!
