There are many benefits to the new software, one of the biggest is the mobile functionality. Ill fix up some stuff in the coming days, we'll also try to get some of the old addons back or the data imported back into the site like the garage. Update done well worth getting done!

We are making the 2 hour ride to the dealer this Friday to get this done. My 09 SE5 has been surging and then had the shifting problem while my wife was riding it. Hers just hit 600 miles and has not had any updates done to it yet.

So, this sounds like very good news for both of our Spyders.

I took the plunge today and had both the Dynamic Power Software Update and ECM software update done.

The ECM software update did also include hardware (as noted by others for EVAP cannister): hose/protector tube/clamp/2-tie raps and a grommet. At least this potential source of gas fumes (under seat) now exists under bike in general area near radiator. .7 hours total for tech. are allowed under warranty for both updates.

I have a basically stock Spyder that ran and handled well before update and did not notice any difference after updates - thank goodness:D. O'K maybe the steering is a little easier - maybe:dontknow:. Hard to tell in my 85 mile ride home in windy conditions.

But my dealer knows who I am quite well, and respected my wish to have both done at once to prevent such problems.

My dealer doesn't know me from jack, but agreed to order the vent line parts and do both at the same time at my request. Hope to have it done next week.

If they vent line even remotely could be related to fuel dripping on the exhaust and causing a fire I think it make sense to the second upgrade done. Then again, why is it optional?:hun:

I agree - I don't get why it is optional - I made it mandatory and fortunately the dealer supported me and added vent line.

I got the latest update done today. The weather was a little chilly today 51 degrees but I wanted that update done ASAP. I think it worked really well. No more surging and no more coughing. I also do not get that gas smell I had been experiencing all along. Way to go BRP, I think you finally got it right!

I think it's because if they make it mandatory, do you know how many people who already got the first one done, and thankfully are not having problems would have to return to get the other one done as well.

Also being the first one is part of a National Safety Recall I am not 100% sure if the second one if made "a must" would not have to be submitted to The National Traffic Safety Board for approval as part of that recall or not?

If it were made part of the safety reacall, and as by law BRP had to mail out another letter to everyone again, it would be some real money spent for sure.

I think their feeling is "let sleeping dogs lie" and if people who already got the first update done are not complaining nor having issues "don't fix what ain't broke" and leave them alone.

WOOHOO, 2 pm today for my update to the update. Just installed the HMF pipe this morning and cant wait to get her running right again.

So I just got off the phone with my dealer, and their service department rocks (go FMS!). They have the DSP #2 update and know of the new vent tube parts, which they are telling me is like 5 separate parts to the fix. But BRP has not listed these parts in the inventory for ordering. So this is slowing down the process in getting the vent tube update along with patching to DSP #2. On a good note my new brake pads and SE5 shift sensor w/sring are in. But.. the dealership wanting to maximize my time in the shop wants the vent tube parts as to do EVERYTHING at once.

I so want the DSP #2 update and vent tube fix as to go back to the way my little SE5 use to purrrrrr..... (with a hindle of course!!! :doorag:)

Just throught I would share that with the collective.

40 miles since the UD2UD being done today and she is back to normal, with great acceleration and seems to be running a little cooler too. 93 degrees today and never over 4 bars, even in traffic.

My dealer is out of the loop.

I have called my service Dept (Hilton Head Motorsports) twice this week to ask about the update and they said they didn't know about it and would call me when they got some info on it. They acted like they were going online or calling to find out what the deal was but they haven't called me back yet. WTF?? :gaah: I sure wish they had a tech that was as enthusiastic about the Spyder as some of their customers, or some of the techs that are on here!

Tell them to look on BossWeb. Good dealers check it frequently. Updates and service bulletin notices are first posted there. Sorry your dealer is less than enthusiastic.

We are taking our Spyder's to Hilton Head Motorsports tomorrow, should be there around 11 AM. I sure hope they know about the update now, as we told them that is the reason we are coming.

I have done the cannister removal trick and the bike runs just fine, thank you. Will not be having the second update done. Bike is strong and responsive. If it ain't broke dont fix it!

Well, we just got back from the dealer. They did not have parts for the ECM update, which is what I think also installs the latest update. They did all of the other updates to Love2Ride's Spyder, and now it is running like crap. Doing the same surging thing mine has been doing. The most interesting thing is the computer showed that my Spyder does not fall into the list of bikes that needs the second update, even though I am having the problems. My VIN ends in 321 and the list says that bikes with 320 and 322 need the update, but skips right over 321. We asked them to contact BRP about that, as it makes no sense whatsoever to me.

I also found out the the connection on my GPS was loose, and it is now giving the mechanic a code all the time. So they are ordering a new sensor for mine as well.

I am hoping they will get the parts in within the next few days, and that we can get all of this resolved next Friday.

My wife is not a happy camper right now. :(

Update 2 update

Did the update to the update today was only able to take ashort ryde after - but ryde was much smoother in everyway. I am very happy. :ohyea::clap:

Finally, my Spyder is running great again!
Had a bad DPS, then bad first update, but all good now.
One thing I did notice that changed is the way my spyder warms up now. When I first start it up, when it is cold, the idle is much higher for a few minutes, then comes down to a normal idle, letting me know its ready to roll.

Had the second update done on mine Thursday. So happy that it is running soo "GREAT"...Not sure if this second update had anything to do with the steering but it seems so smooth in curves. Rides like a dream is all I can say. Thanx Lamont, you da Man!:2thumbs: Without you we'd still be twiddling our thumbs and scratching our heads.
