• There were many reasons for the change of the site software, the biggest was security. The age of the old software also meant no server updates for certain programs. There are many benefits to the new software, one of the biggest is the mobile functionality. Ill fix up some stuff in the coming days, we'll also try to get some of the old addons back or the data imported back into the site like the garage. To create a thread or to reply with a post is basically the same as it was in the prior software. The default style of the site is light colored, but i temporarily added a darker colored style, to change you can find a link at the bottom of the site.

is it normal for the auto downshift to be hard? Makes a loud sound when going into gear. Doing it manually with the paddle shifter is smooth. I am looking to buy this bike and have a manual now so not sure.

thanks

If you're unsure and there's a Spyder dealer in the area? Tell the buyer you want to have the Spyder checked out by them. It may cost you an hours shop time, but it will ease your concerns.

On my 2015 RSS the auto downshift is very smooth... but its a 2015... not sure if anything changed between the years.
As Jeriatric said... have it checked, better safe than sorry.

Have it checked....

Not that familiar with the SE's being a manual ryder. The only sota loud, clunky shift is only on the neutral to first or reverse. Like mentioned above check oil level and if possible oil brand and spec's being used and level and how it was checked. Could be as simple as that but if downshifting yourself has no effect it may be something in the shifting system...:dontknow:

Its not normal. Shifting on the SE5 is only loud and clunky if the oil is low. Dealer did my first oil change on my bike (6 years ago). I left the dealer and the bike would barely shift down at all. Shifting up was OK. I checked the oil it was a quart low. These are the kind of dealers we that have CanAm products have to deal with. Tell the dealer to check the oil. Its low.

Or even better (and maybe more extreme)... since you don't know what kind of oil its in it... do a oil change.

I have a 2009 and the only loud clunk is into 1st gear (manual) the auto down shift is smooth as silk
