• There were many reasons for the change of the site software, the biggest was security. The age of the old software also meant no server updates for certain programs. There are many benefits to the new software, one of the biggest is the mobile functionality. Ill fix up some stuff in the coming days, we'll also try to get some of the old addons back or the data imported back into the site like the garage. To create a thread or to reply with a post is basically the same as it was in the prior software. The default style of the site is light colored, but i temporarily added a darker colored style, to change you can find a link at the bottom of the site.

I bought this from Cycle Gear. It has two Velcro straps so I could fasten it tightly to the backrest. It's a Sedici T2 Veneto Tail bag. Capacity 22 liters.

What supports the bottom of the bag? Because that flimsy plastic tail piece certainly won't support any weight without damage.

If the back of the bag where it straps from is solid, and the straps are strong, you most probably do not need bottom support.
Friction should keep it in place without any issues.

I rode with it on last night. It did start to sag. There is a grip on the top of the bag, so I can get a Velcro Cinch to tie from the grip to the top strap vertically. I can also invert it and let the bottom be supported by the passenger seat. Its easy to get on and off, so it's no issue. Even with the sagging, it does not reach the back fender, so there is no risk of it getting damaged or gum up the back wheel. It just looks a little odd.

Sort of like this.

I was worried that it might sag some. There are some bags that have a pocket that goes over the top of the seat and hangs. I'm still trying to find one of those that I like the look of.

I rigged out a back pack 4 extra storage. I added extra straps so most of the bag hand on the backrest vs just strapping onto it.

Keep in mind the back rest is just that, a backrest. It fits into a slot at the front of the seat and is only attached at the back by 2 small screws into plastic. If your strapping a lot of weight that is pulling down on the back rest then eventually those 2 screws will strip out of the plastic. Now a bag strapped to the back rest resting the bottom on something won't do that. Folks that didn't install their own back rest may not know this.

Nice...

Could make a "L" brace for the support. Kuryakyn has some soft formed bags I use on the RS but the passenger back support is massive and I made the "L" brace to mount it on.

I tested with a new strap from the bag handle fastened to the bottom strap. Works well. I put some soda and a cable lock in it, no issues. If I have to ever carry something heavy I will just turn it around so the passenger seat will support it. It is a semi rigid bag, so it won’t lose its shape.

Here's an idea. I reckon the OE back rest which clicks on to the F3 will take a Ventura bag slotted over it. I have an old Bathurst Pack; 63 litres, it would sit on the back seat. www.ventura-bike.com

No need to buy the frame. They won't have one for a Can-Am, anyway. I've had my bag since 1996. I had it over one of their frames on an R1100GS, then over the Triple Tail on my Buell Ulysses and when I get my F3-S I'll measure up a back rest and see if it will fit. It should.

Sorry for derailing this thread a little bit... but do you have a more detailed picture on how you managed to attached that L bracket? :)
Thinking on doing something similar and looking for ideas :).

Thanks!
