There are many benefits to the new software, one of the biggest is the mobile functionality. Ill fix up some stuff in the coming days, we'll also try to get some of the old addons back or the data imported back into the site like the garage. To create a thread or to reply with a post is basically the same as it was in the prior software. Removing RT limited foot pegs

I’m trying to remove the foot pegs on my wife’s 2012 RT limited so I can install some floorboards I got her for her birthday. I have it raised up on ramps, but it seems like they used a gallon of locktite on the threads. It seems that if I cut off the outside half of the peg off, I can get an impact wrench on the nut. Any help would be appreciated. We are newbies. Mine is a 2013 RT S. Thanks so much.

I have 2012 RT SE5, am new to this bike but not new to working on bikes...
Try spraying Liquid wrench. Any hardware or automotive shop should have it. Comes in small or large bottles... Does not take much.. also comes in spray... let sit for 5-10 min try removing again.... Cutting the peg may not be the best idea... If you think any chance of selling or no longer like the floor boards.... I went to remove the antenna, nothing I could do to get it loose...
I used liquid wrench, was a bit tight but then it came loose.... use extension for more leverage..
Be sure you have the right size tool... do not want to strip it...Good Luck, just so happens I will install running boards this weekend....

I saw a youtube video of a man who used a small torch to heat up the screws on an F3 to remove two screws on footpegs on that bike. Is that the treatment to loosen the Locktite?

Avoid cutting, your floorboards may require some of that hardware:dontknow:

I don't know how your Floorboards are constructed ….. however I think you can just un-bolt the Peg pads and put the floorboards on to the peg and re-bolt ….. I made my own from diamond plate alumin. and that's how I did mine ….. Mike

:agree: the heat will soften the locktite. DONT START A BARN FIRE, BE GENTLE

Heat Gun ….. It will RUIN the paint !!!! :lecturef_smilie::gaah: …A decent soldering iron used ON the Bolt probably won't …... A BOLT / Thread loosener, not likely if you wipe it off after using, just don't wait to long …… jmho …. Mike :ohyea:

On the 2012 RTL there are locking tabs on the back side of the foot peg bolts that you have to bend down before you unbolt them. Make sure you do that. you will need to get under the thing to see them. On right side, there is one bolt that is long that you will have to wiggle a little to get out because it goes up against the cat but you can get it out, it is the one that connects the brake also. I put on the Rivco floor boards on my 2012 they are nice.

If you have them they are easy to install. There is a video on how to install them. They don't make them any more and I think John (the man that makes them ) just sold the last set a few days ago.

Pegasus1300, Just wondering how they looked when you received them? I just got mine and installed them. Pretty easy..
Definitely improved how I ride... probably would not recommend to others. For the price, mine had chrome molding coming off and rubber on top of the metal plate was not cut evenly...

Yes, that is the treatment to loosen the Locktite!! Just get the bolts "real warm"... but not cherry red!! ha ha
