New Goldwing Trike next to a new Spyder RT

I pulled into a Hardies next to a brand new GL1800 Goldwing with a Champion Side Car trike kit. It was very nice and I decided to shoot a little video of them side by side. The owners wife came out and we started comparing notes. They were really happy with their Wing, I think the only thing she didn't like was the fact that they paid 13K more. The kit with the bike was 38K and the RT I'm driving is 25K. The RT really is a bargin.

I did like the arm rest and that is needed on the RT. I guess they have 80 liters of storage and the RT has 155 liters of storage. That's almost twice the storage. It was great to compare them side by side but in the end we were both happy with what we were riding and that's all that matters. :doorag:

Colors...

The 2010 Spyders are apparently quite nice. However, I'm disturbed by BRP's choice of colors. My favorite colors have always been blues, but when I entered motorcycling for the first time four months ago, SAFETY was first on my list. Thus, I purchased a Millenium Yellow SE5. I don't want to give cage operators any slack on visibility!:lecturef_smilie:

I'm concerned that dropping Red and Millenium Yellow from the list of Spyder colors, will increase the odds of Spyder Ryders getting whacked.

Just about all my bikes have been yellow or had yellow in them. One thing for sure is people will notice the Spyder, not because of the color but because it just looks so odd going down the road. I don't think black cars have that much trouble either. ;)

Great videos! I loved the "Hang on Let me turn this..." I'm guessing the word "off" was next.

Hats off to Lamont for all the great information! I'm getting ready to trade my V-Rod for an RT. Looking forward to sitting on one before purchase.

Thanks again

I imagine you can put some seriously spiffy arm rests on the RT for $13,000

I can see MM adding that to his list.

RT passenger arm rests: $13,000 list special for only $9,999.99

:D

Very interesting to see them side by side. What blows my mind is how much BIGGER the Goldwing seems--- especially from the rear--- yet it has 1/2 the storage !

Chalk one up for BRP here---- these things are gonna SELL!

colors

I agree with NewRider, I love the yellow and that's what I own. I do like the blue. I wish they would offer some other colors, if you have to order your bike it would be great to be able to choose from maybe 6 colors. I like bright colors, yellow, go green, blue, mopar purple, teal, just some of the colors you see on Hot Rods. Yes, I know they have to offer Black and that's fine, I like black, but I've owned black cars and they were a pain to keep clean. I know there are some great products out there now, so maybe it's not that bad, like in the 70's, dame I just gave out my age. Oh well we all get refined, not older.

Lamont,

Thanks for the video.

By the way, the champion trike website ( http://www.dauntlessmotors.com/Trikes/honda-GL-1800-trike-kit.htm ) states that it's kit has 6.75 cubic feet of storage, which, I believe, is all in one place. That equals about 191.14 liters. BRP's spec sheet on the RT says it has a total of 155 liters storage, not cubic feet (front, rear, saddlebags & glove box). That equals about 5.47 cubic feet. This means the RT has 1.28 cubic feet (or 36.24 liters) less storage than the Champion kit on the GL1800. :dontknow:

Sorry about that, but don't worry, You are still the man! :firstplace:

Interesting---- but for the life of me I can't see where all that storage difference is----??

I have seen the Champions kit. The trunk is very Jennifer Lopez:2thumbs:, plus has storage space over the wheels and a big top case.
