• There were many reasons for the change of the site software, the biggest was security. The age of the old software also meant no server updates for certain programs. There are many benefits to the new software, one of the biggest is the mobile functionality. Ill fix up some stuff in the coming days, we'll also try to get some of the old addons back or the data imported back into the site like the garage. To create a thread or to reply with a post is basically the same as it was in the prior software. The default style of the site is light colored, but i temporarily added a darker colored style, to change you can find a link at the bottom of the site.

I'm considering getting BUDS as my dealer is ~200 miles away. Those of you who have purchased it, where did you purchase it and approximate cost? I have seen it with dealer license for $400 to $700 dollars. Dealer support? What is needed in terms of software, cables and spyder specific items?

Thanks,

=bob=

You can also buy it through amazon.

https://www.amazon.com/BUDS2-Diagno...ords=buds+brp&qid=1552957643&s=gateway&sr=8-1

The version I linked to is the one year all dealer tech license for both BUDS and BUDS2.

Note: Same version and vendor that trikemutha link to. Just through amazon instead.

In the thread about the 20.8 software upgrade, you mentioned you needed another cable to do the software upgrade. Is every thing else included and what is the USB cable you had to purchase used for?

The kit I linked to has everything you need for a Spyder any year, except the type A to type A usb cable for updating the dash software. Here is a link to one from amazon. https://www.amazon.com/Rankie-Cable...=gateway&sprefix=a+to+a+,aps,166&sr=8-3-spell It's a usb 3 cable so sould be fine. The TSB specified a usb 2 cable but the 3 is backward compatible. usb 3 is blue, usb 2 is black and usb 1 is white. So don't get a white one.

You people that have purchased BUDS, what was your motivation? Curiosity, education, remote dealer, inadequate service or some other reason?

I too have been thinking of purchasing the software, if the software comes with a one year license - what is the cost for license renewals after the first year is up? Is it reasonable or is it a killer cost?

It depends on the license. I've seen the basic license around$100.
