• There were many reasons for the change of the site software, the biggest was security. The age of the old software also meant no server updates for certain programs. There are many benefits to the new software, one of the biggest is the mobile functionality. Ill fix up some stuff in the coming days, we'll also try to get some of the old addons back or the data imported back into the site like the garage. To create a thread or to reply with a post is basically the same as it was in the prior software. The default style of the site is light colored, but i temporarily added a darker colored style, to change you can find a link at the bottom of the site.

Helmet-mounted 3rd brake light

After seeing this thread I started doing some research. Low and behold I discovered that there were a half dozen or more companies making these helmet lights. Somebody needs to do a comparison test.

Nobody is making one with the decelerometer feature that I know of. Would have been happy to have any kind of light at back of helmet recently when riding home in the dark with no running lights working.

We are partial of course but check out the Nolan ESS sytems looks interesting we will be getting one for the wifes helmet

No I do not, but the way it mounts with the shims it might be something to look at. Since we have the nolan intercoms we have to get the ESS multi. which is the one I beleive many of us would need. Hope this helps

Did an internet search found it for about $70.00 I have not checked Nolans website though but I believe it was more there. Hope this helps

For me personally I have 6 different helmets depending on weather, mood, etc. The most I'll do is a removable helmet cam. For additional safety I have reflector tape on the helmets, bike and riding gear. As well I got into the habit of tapping the brakes for the rear and wiggling the front end to affect the headlight pattern for the front if necessary.

Just a quick update from the Brake Free team; they've pushed out the delivery once again, to September 2019.

It's definitely a disappointment, as I was really looking forward to getting it on my helmet, but once again, the choice is to either b**** and moan, or accept that the team involved is doing their best, and the path they're laying down is realistic and hopefully the last of the delays. Having a reasonably structured vehicle like Indiegogo helps to alleviate the "they just took our money and blew it" fear one might have on one's own.

We'll see if they're on track still in next month's update.

I have this one: https://thirdeyedesigninc.com/features/ got it late in the fall. I will install it this weekend with other lights & wiring but not having riding weather yet to try it out to it's fullest.
I bought it when it was under development before they were in production. A lot cheaper then now!

Tim - Have you installed the light yet and have you tried it out? Curious as to how it performs and whether you're satisfied with it.

Another brief update on the Brake Free light -- the beta (user) test units will be going out to some lucky testers in early October. I'm hoping to be one of them. We'll see.

Shipment is probably happening in November.

A final update on this thread -- I just received word that I'll be getting one of the beta units of the Brake Free helmet light; should be in my hands within the week. I'll post my impressions/thoughts separately once I have it installed and get to test it out a bit.

What was the result of this?

I recently bought a brake free helmet light. 60 days to get it. Comes from Hong Kong. I ordered an extra set of mounting brackets and that also took 60 days. Very bright, large size, and they do work. A motion detector switch kicks it on when you hit the brakes.

Over priced IMO @ $169 or so.
