Rally with standard rims

I was on the Can Am website and this picture looks like a rally with standard rims. I didn’t think it was possible. Thoughts?

I agree that's a rally with standard rims. I prefer the standard rims myself. The rally rims look just like the rims on my Toyota Tundra

I'd also like to know if the standard rims can be put on a rally.

Are you sure it's not just a 'non-Rally' 900 Ryker with the hand protector & pillion seat/rear mudguard options? I haven't seen enough of the different tires & sizes yet to tell the difference from a sorta blurry pic, but I'm pretty sure that all those 'easily visible' things seem to be readily available as options, with the only 'real identifiers' between the two apart from the tires & the rear rim size being things you can't easily see without turning the Ryker on.... :dontknow:

Still, I don't see how the rims & tires wouldn't be interchangeable if you really want them, especially if it's just the fronts & appearance you are concerned about?!

Actually, why I think its a Rally is because of the rear fender, type of tires, and various guards. The fender on a 900 covers the entire top half of the tire, on the picture it is the rally rear fender which is only about 1/4 circle. Also, the nubby tires and lower guard probably make it a rally. The picture a screen shot from the ryker website that shows various builds. What I am not seeing is being able to build different rims or fenders on the site. Because they are different sizes I do not think you can just swap them out. Hopefully someone might have some info.

Seems I read, heard, or saw on utube that the rims on the Rally are more heavy duty for the intended use. I have to agree the picture from what I can tell sure looks like the Rally with the regular rims.

Actually you can add the silver part under the radiator and 2 silver pieces inside the front wheels as parts ordered which is what I'm going to do to make the 900 seem more like a rally- The silver piece on the end of the Rally muffler can also be swapped to the 900. Gonna get exciting when they come out!!!

Thanks for the input. Do you know if you can change the rear fender? They are different on the two models. I would order a Rally tomorrow if I could get the black rims. Or if I could get the 900 with a rally mode setting. Like Rob stated above, they remind me of truck wheels. I get they are reinforced but my concern is a marketing person at Can Am might have got creative with photoshop!

I dont understand why you guys think the regular wheels wont fit the rally edition. They have the same hubs. What is the fitment issue you think there will be? I dont see any.

The fronts would fit fine. The rear rim on the standard Ryker is 16", on the Rally its 15"

The rear wheel size is the first issue. My other concern is you do not have the option on the site to change wheels. I am hoping I don’t need to buy an extra of wheels set especially since I would be buying a new Ryker.

I dont see a problem changing the rear wheel either. Jusr because the wheel size is larger, doesnt mean the rolling diameter is different. I dont see any problems swapping any of the wheels from any of tye rykers. The rear tire is just a lower profile tire on a larger rim. I have to argue this all the time with people. My car came with 17 inch wheels and I switched them to 19 inch wheels. People ask if it messes up my speedometer. Of course not. The 19 inch tires are a much lower profile but have the same rolling diameter, so speedometer still reads the correct speed.

Have you test ridden the Ryker yet. I have rode it the 900cc I will not need the Rally Mode - Sport Mode all I need. Just me it does everything. :2thumbs:

I also still don`t know which one I should take ..
(the Rally has more space for a lower passenger seat and a better shock for 2up)

but the wheels look exact like the ones of my car ..

I agree the wheel styling is terrible on the Rally model. If the test ride goes well I've decided to go for the standard 900 and add the fox shocks, swaybar and whatever else I need. The costs will be more than buying the Rally but I don't need Rally Mode and I guess the standard mode wheels are worth it to me.

75,000 possible customization combinations but one 1 wheel option. Hmmmmmmmmm seems wrong to me.

If a Rally model with standard rims is really what you want, just buy it that way. The rims are available as a dealer installed option just like on a Spyder.

Be Very interesting to see the cost of this including labor when someone actually does it? I could not even guess?
