I have the manual, but I follow a lot of the threads with the autos...I think most of the problems are being corrected...one of the main ones is the ground wire, which BRP is doing for the autos now...you should be good to go...who knows, though, the RT will likely have its own issues...but it does look pretty!
The SE5 is different. It does call for different procedures, coordination, and delivers a different riding experience.
I sometimes still miss pulling in the clutch and revving the engine at a stop light - it is just not the same shifting into Neutral. I also miss pulling in the clutch and coasting. But, as Judy Collins wrote; "something is lost and something is gained in living every day."
Almost everyone calls it an Automatic, but it is really Assisted Electronic shifting. You shift. You do not just select
Forward or
Reverse.
When I was shopping for my Spyder, this forum was really hot on a SM5 vs. SE5 Death Match. Since there were a lot of SM5 riders out there, the vast number of recommendation was for going with the proven simpler technology and less expensive SM5. I went for the SE5.
I found in the test drives, the SE5 was ergonomically better for me - my body did not have to be on point to clutch and shift. I could sit more relaxed in the low gears - like that feeling when you get on the expressway and you know you won't be clutching and shifting all the time and you can "set back and relax and enjoy the ride" - for me, that is what is gained in the SE5. I still get a smile when I shift it too. No regrets. No problems.
I would happily accept a free RT M, but I would much prefer an RT E and would gladly pay the difference is cost.
AND, if Bonecrusher can say you are "good to go" on an SE5, the only thing you have to look out for are the icy roads in Hell.
