• There were many reasons for the change of the site software, the biggest was security. The age of the old software also meant no server updates for certain programs. There are many benefits to the new software, one of the biggest is the mobile functionality. Ill fix up some stuff in the coming days, we'll also try to get some of the old addons back or the data imported back into the site like the garage. To create a thread or to reply with a post is basically the same as it was in the prior software. The default style of the site is light colored, but i temporarily added a darker colored style, to change you can find a link at the bottom of the site.

Police Spyder

I personally would love to see more police services trying out the spyder. It sorta gives the spyder more of a legitimate place in the motorcycling world. When "Joe Public" sees a Harley being used as a police bike they think "that Harley must be a good bike if the police are using it". Right now when "Joe Public" sees a spyder they think "what the h@ll is that" !!!!

Hey Bruce is it an SM5 or an SE5 ??

He said it is a SE5 and I respectfully disagree....I really don't want the Spyder to be used by law enforcement. I like the niche that our bike has and police using it doesn't legitimize the bike more for me...but, to each their own...

Media Coverage

At a media conference yesterday, the London Police Spyder was formally introduced, although it has been on the road for the past week. The reception by the media was very positive. Here is a link to the newspaper coverage. There is a video in the story you can watch:

http://lfpress.ca/newsstand/News/Local/2009/08/27/10630061-sun.html

Here is a link to the television coverage. I make a brief appearance in it with my Spyder, "Red October".

http://www.atv.ca/london/news_69988.aspx

The stories are good, although you will see some minor factual errors, which is fairly typical for most news reports.

Also, you should probably check these links as soon as you can, as I am not sure how long they are kept by the newspaper and TV station.

Looking good!
. . . . . . . . . . . and you were dressed nice, too.

Tom

Thanks Tom! :D

Not sure what the dollars would be yet. I think BRP is still working on crunching the numbers. Right now, our police service is just evaluating the :spyder: to see if it is an effective law enforcement tool.

In my book that qualifies you to the "Celebrity Riders" thread:2thumbs:

Except my cameo appearance was completely anonymous! Could have been anyone in a red helmet with a smoked visor.

I agree, you qualify as a Celebrity. I 2nd the nomination!

. . . . I knew it was you the second I saw you read the Safety Card before pressing the Start button. Nobody else with a red helmet and smoked visor does that - with or without a film crew watching. ;)

Keep us informed on how the Spyder Evaluation is going - since most of us ride for recreation or therapy, it will be interesting to hear its strong and weak points from a different perspective.
