• There were many reasons for the change of the site software, the biggest was security. The age of the old software also meant no server updates for certain programs. There are many benefits to the new software, one of the biggest is the mobile functionality. Ill fix up some stuff in the coming days, we'll also try to get some of the old addons back or the data imported back into the site like the garage. To create a thread or to reply with a post is basically the same as it was in the prior software. The default style of the site is light colored, but i temporarily added a darker colored style, to change you can find a link at the bottom of the site.

Exhaust Wrap

OK.

Just be aware that the wrap will make the temperature of the pipes inside the wrap go WAY UP, probably.
That can result in "burning out" the pipes/muffler a lot sooner than normal.

I don't know if this will apply to your situation or not.

Theoretically this is true as it keeps the exhaust heat inside the pipe instead of radiating it to the engine compartment, fuel tank, etc. But I have not found it to be detrimental to the CAT.

Do Not wrap the CAT! That would be a very bad idea. Getting rid of it is a better idea.

EXHAUST WRAP

OK, THIS HAS PEAKED MY INTREST. I LIKE THE IDEA OF THE CAT DELETE,I HAVE A 13 RT AND CANT SEEM TO FIND THE CORRECT PRIMARY PIPE REPLACEMENT AT PITBULL PRODUCTS.HOW DOES THIS EFFECT THE COMPUTERS? WILL I GET CHECK ENGINE LITES FROM O2 SENSORS? DOES THIS REQUIRE ANY SORT OF REFLASH? ANY HELP WOULD BE GREAT.:riding:

Exactly. You get rid of a lot more BTUs if you take it off rather than trying to insulate it.

Ron and Doug, OK, so If I get that Cat delete pipe, can / should I wrap any, or all of the Cat Delete pipe?

Actually, I didn't wrap mine. One - it was already on and I didn't want to take it off to do a better job wrapping it and ruin another set of gaskets. But two - it's low and struck me that it would be very exposed to weather, road debris and wind, that I just thought the wrap would be damaged anyway. I just wrapped my left side header and the bit of right side I could reach. Just removing that catalytic furnace made a big difference. But if you want to, go for it. Can't hurt.

I've never taken measurements or anything like that, but I just wonder if performing your RT heat recall with the scoops added, makes header wrapping an insignificant factor anymore. And if you're standing still stuck in traffic, you're going to get hot no matter. We're straddling a 100hp motor with a radiator fan blowing hot air all over us. Wrapping won't help any of that.

You can if you like, of course. But I wouldn't bother. The idea is to get the heat out of areas where it does damage or is not wanted. That is pretty much the engine compartment and near the fuel tank. Once you get down to the CAT area. Especially if you don't have the CAT. The benefits would be negligible in my opinion.

I think wrapping the exhaust will still give you significant reduction in engine compartment and fuel tank heat. Especially when you are sitting still. It may still be hotter than you'd like. But getting 600 degree + heat to go out the exhaust is always going to be better than having it cook your engine compartment.

HEAT WRAPPING PIPES

Ron and Doug, OK, so If I get that Cat delete pipe, can / should I wrap any, or all of the Cat Delete pipe?
I did on mine , but I believe in the Scavenging effect it should produce...... All the piping from the heads back were already off..... and the wrap wasn't much costlier .............jmho ..... Mike
