• There were many reasons for the change of the site software, the biggest was security. The age of the old software also meant no server updates for certain programs. There are many benefits to the new software, one of the biggest is the mobile functionality. Ill fix up some stuff in the coming days, we'll also try to get some of the old addons back or the data imported back into the site like the garage. To create a thread or to reply with a post is basically the same as it was in the prior software. The default style of the site is light colored, but i temporarily added a darker colored style, to change you can find a link at the bottom of the site.

Police Spyder

BRP has provided an SE5 Spyder to the London Police Service for a short time to test out in traffic patrol duties. We put it on the road today. I have attached a picture of one of our officers on the unit as he went on the street with it for the first time.

The Spyder has generated a lot of interest within the London Police. I am hoping the traffic guys find it not just cool, but a useful tool as well.

Bruce, in the picture, the Spyder looks White - or is it Silver. I had heard that White was going to be a new color and replacing Yellow.

And, did they mount flashers - or are they not needed on Traffic Patrol?

Ha!

Awesome, Bruce!

And before anyone makes a silly comment about it, I think it's great that they put a mirror logo of "London Police" on the windshield, for all those folks that see the leo behind them and think "What the hell is tha--Ooohhh. Uh oh...")

I personally would love to see more police services trying out the spyder. It sorta gives the spyder more of a legitimate place in the motorcycling world. When "Joe Public" sees a Harley being used as a police bike they think "that Harley must be a good bike if the police are using it". Right now when "Joe Public" sees a spyder they think "what the h@ll is that" !!!!

Hey Bruce is it an SM5 or an SE5 ??

I would love to see an army of EMTs on Spyders in the city with some life saving stuff jammed in the Givis, weaving through tight spots in traffic.

It is white Tom, but that is not a factory colour.

It has full LED flashers and a very loud siren.

Yeah, the "police" part was already on the screen in reverse format, so our guys just added the "London" above it. I had it out for a while this morning. It is amazing to watch how law-abiding drivers become when they see something like this behind or beside them!

This one is an SE5. First time I have had the chance to ride one for an extended period, and I have to admit, I really liked it, in spite of my bias towards clutches and manual transmissions.

Congrats Bruce.

Thanks Brian. This has been a pet project of mine for a while. I hope we actually see one or two Spyders in our fleet in the future.

Cool pic Bruce and welcome back, hope your travels went well

Thanks jedd!

That looks pretty sweet.

My wife also thought the "old school" paint job looked really good. I have to agree. This black and white combo looks very nice on the Spyder.

:2thumbs: Nice job Bruce. Your hard work in this project paided off. Hope the police dept. buys the :spyder2:. Next the O.P.P.

Thanks Dan! We will have to coordinate our departure for Gatlinburg sometime in the near future. It looks like we will have a good contingent of Ontario Spyders heading down.

Best regards,

Bruce

That sure looks a lot like the one I saw in Magog Quebec recently...

Good catch Speedin! It is the same unit. :2thumbs: It has been repainted and rebadged, and the scrolling message on the instrument display has been changed from French to English.

Bruce

Way kewl, Bruce! Here's hoping that it justifies purchase of one (or more). Which reminds me it has been way too long since visiting your town.
