• There were many reasons for the change of the site software, the biggest was security. The age of the old software also meant no server updates for certain programs. There are many benefits to the new software, one of the biggest is the mobile functionality. Ill fix up some stuff in the coming days, we'll also try to get some of the old addons back or the data imported back into the site like the garage. To create a thread or to reply with a post is basically the same as it was in the prior software. The default style of the site is light colored, but i temporarily added a darker colored style, to change you can find a link at the bottom of the site.

First Time Poster Long Time Lurker Hi Everyone!

:welcome: to the club. Your 08 rental was a GS model. That's all they made back then. I had one--they were great.

The only thing that bothered me a bit was my neck hurt by the end of a 3-4 hour ride and I’m wondering if it had anything to do with the body position on that bike or the fact it was just new to me. My helmet is a Schuberth modular and I don’t think it’s cinsidered heavy.

The stock GS/RS models came in "crotch rocket" mode. That was the stance and you had to get used to it. Not me, for long. Since I had about $15K into it--I ended up putting about $6K more just in farkles to make it an RT--two more years for that to come out. I sometimes think they copied a few others and myself included.

My mods to make it "better:" A higher windshield, weights in the bars to prevent vibration, 4" bar risers, Corbin seat & backrest, rear fender from Corbin, Corbin Fairing, Givi Saddlebags, Corbin Trunk, Front bag for over the gas tank--that's about all I can remember for now.

Here is a picture of our 08 (SM5) and 09 (SE5).

BeUtiful bike Spyder man and definitely more tricked out than what I rode but the bones are the same. I was always hoping that more time on the bike would have remediated the neck pain

:agree: .... I suffered the same pain and put 4in. risers on my GS ...... but I had to create my own because no one was making them commercially :banghead: ....... The risers make a HUGH difference in your riding position and they can be done for about $75.00 ............... Mike

Ok here’s where I show my ignorance. What’s a riser?

Mine were also home made. The dealer made them for us. I got one free and paid for the one on the 09. He does not make them any more.
