• There were many reasons for the change of the site software, the biggest was security. The age of the old software also meant no server updates for certain programs. There are many benefits to the new software, one of the biggest is the mobile functionality. Ill fix up some stuff in the coming days, we'll also try to get some of the old addons back or the data imported back into the site like the garage. To create a thread or to reply with a post is basically the same as it was in the prior software. Why are there still 2016's for sale new?

I just looked at the website for one dealer and saw they have seven brand new 2016's for sale. My dealer has three and one demo, though they are down from seven when I bought mine in October and the first dealer is asking $2000 more per vehicle. This gets me nervous. Have Spyders simply quit selling?

Thoughts?

That's been the case for years. BRP, as well as other vehicle manufacturers, tend to build more than the market will absorb in any given year. If I remember it right, Ford tried for a few years to build only as many cars and trucks as would sell. They learned it wasn't a good marketing approach overall. If people can't select from a variety of available stock they tend to go elsewhere. Bargain shoppers will always come along and buy the leftovers. If it weren't for leftovers they wouldn't buy new at all, only used.

The situation is pretty much across the board. Many brands of motorcycles have two to three years of older models that are brand new. I bought a brand new 2015 Vulcan from my dealer last summer. Good deal though. Over 25% off of sticker.

Good for the buyer, but not so much for the seller.

Still New 2016's For Sale

Just like others have Posted. I got a Great Deal on my Purchase in November of 2016. Sometimes 'Good Deals' come to those that 'Wait to Smell the Roses'.

I agree with what was stated earlier. If it wasn't for leftovers, I probably would not buy new. I purchased my new 2016 in April of 2017. It saved me about $5500.

Then there is....

the cost of maintaining an inventory of units that some dealers can not afford to drastically discount them when new unit arrive. Bigger dealers can take the hit but smaller ones have trouble with that. :thumbup:o

Bought my 2015 RT in January of 2017. I got the same warranty and everything else that I would have if I had bought a 2016 or even a 2017 which were due out the next week or so. I saved over $6000 and there were no meaningful changes to the 16's or 17's so I didn't miss out on anything there either. Some folks worry about resale on the older model, but if you are worried about resale then you shouldn't be buying anything with wheels on it on the first place. I tend to put a lot of miles on my bikes so resale value is pretty much a moot point for me anyway.

It did make feel better to know Kawasaki has the same problem.

I have bought quite a few "riceburners" that were one to three years old--but sold as new. Never had a bad one in the mix. Saved a few thousand in the process too. The only "new" motorcycles I have purchased have been the latest iterations of the :spyder2:.:yes:

My local Harley dealer has a few 4 yr old "new" bikes, still on the floor, heavily discounted.

It seems like all motorcycle manufacturers are a little too optimistic these days

No I just have to wait a year or 2 for a leftover Ryker!

I only buy when the bargains come along. Only one exception my 2014 Indian Chieftain. They were new and i wanted one. But did get 1000 off for military discount.

We still have the 2011 Spyder which I bought new in 2012 for akspyderlady. Only 30K miles and still like new. No desire to trade off for bigger or better. Long paid for. A 2016 new and still for sale, should have some deep discounts. There were no problems with the 2016 year that I know of.

You feel bad for motorcycle dealers and un sold stock, imagine snowmobile dealers when there is no or very little snow for several years...they have mountains of sleds in boxes in the back....luckily this is a snow year...well lucky for them...not for us 2 and 3 wheelers awaiting spring
