Has anybody wrapped their spyder?
I'm looking to wrap the plastic panels, I don't like the new colors and want to wrap it redWhat do you mean by wrap? Do you mean in the same way that one might wrap a car instead of paint? In this case you are putting on a vinyl wrap over the entire structure in lieu of painting. I'd guess most of these are done by professional shops and installers. Or, do you mean a kit where you get a collection of pieces to put on your spyder such as wrapmyspyder.com or amrracing.com?

Thanks, I can take the panels off myself so it would only be the labor for installing the wrap and the wrap.Hello,
Sounds like you want to do a full color change wrap on your Spyder. This would be a pretty difficult install as a DIY project for most people. To do it right it will require some disassembly of various panels on the bike. I would recommend you do a search on Google: "vehicle wraps" and the name of your town and you will get a list of shops in your local area. Some may be willing to do a Spyder and some may not depending on workload. They will probably want to see some photos. Be sure that the shop you choose is using a good "cast" wrapping film. Companies like: Avery, 3M, Oracal to name a few. (tons of solid colors are available: gloss, matte, satin, textured even chrome finishes) If I had to guess, for full color change wrap, you will probably spend from $1,200 -$2,500 for materials and labor. It's more the labor time then material. Spyders have complicated curves and to do the install correctly it takes great finesse, experience and lots of time. Feel free to email me and I will do my best if you have questions based on the replies you get from your local shops. Hope this helps..
I got a price from a company that only does commercial vehicles and said they would not be interested to do it.
They said it should cost about $2,500
You don't have to remove any panels to wrap the bike. Just wash with a little soap and water, dry really well and then clean with alcohol. Personally, I chose 92%. There is a long instruction video on the site that takes time to watch but gives you an absolutely complete how to guide. The World Class Wrap kit of 62 custom cut pieces is not not cheap. And if you go with it, order some extra wrap supplies from Amazon or a specialty shop. EASY to apply for the most part. Curves are tricky but if you take your time, it will work out OK. An alternative is sheet vinyl wrap material and there is a vast selection to choose from. Here's a video of a lady who used sheet vinyl and did a damned fine job. Made it look easy. It seems intimidating at first but after the first section, it'll be old hat.
