• There were many reasons for the change of the site software, the biggest was security. The age of the old software also meant no server updates for certain programs. There are many benefits to the new software, one of the biggest is the mobile functionality. Ill fix up some stuff in the coming days, we'll also try to get some of the old addons back or the data imported back into the site like the garage. To create a thread or to reply with a post is basically the same as it was in the prior software. The default style of the site is light colored, but i temporarily added a darker colored style, to change you can find a link at the bottom of the site.

Replacing Gas filter

My bike does not run well.It feels like it wants to decellerate vs accelerate. I was told that my valves may be too tight (23,000).
May be the case since I have never had them checked.

However, I was also told that I should change my fuel filter first.(#709000100)

I was wondering if anyone else changes this filter and how often?

I did the update but it ran good.
Had the throttle body cleaned and calibrated (adjusted)...not so good after that...just seems very tight and like I am towing another bike behind me
If this was done by the dealer, take it back and complain. If not, you'll probably have to have the dealer calibrate the throttle body, since it requires BUDS, from what I understand. How was the throttle body cleaned. If removed, could be a bad gasket or some mechanical issue. If some sort of spray gunk was used, you might have destroyed the O2 sensor or even plugged the cat converter if using the stock exhaust. This type of problem is more often a brake issue. Are you sure your parking brake isn't hung up? Valve too tight that make for this severe a performance problem usually result in hard starting. Any problems there? Other possibility is exhaust restriction.

Not a dealer but a BRP certified tech on his own, pretty smart and precise guy. He had BUDS and it was calibrated. No cat converter. I am sure of the brake part. Starts fine. Not sure why there would be restriction on exhaust, no work done.

Looks like it is related to the throttle work, then. Either some kind of spray killing the sensor, or a mechanical issue. Either way it sounds like a mistake that needs to be rectified. BTW, being a "BRP certified tech" does not necessarily means Spyder certified. Better make sure of the credentials. Don't know how a "tech" could have BUDS outside a shop, unless it was a pirated copy, and that may not be up to date. I'm sure the dealer would not be pleased. Time to see if your technician will stand behind his work. Why did you calibrate the throttle body anyway, if you weren't having problems?

The Tech in this case that Smokster is referring to is a Spyder approved tech, and knows more than about the Spyder than 98% of all techs.

He is recognized by BRP and has the approval for the BUDs program and has not pirated anything.

I know him and he is a meticulous Spyder tech and just this last weekend held a free tech talk on the Spyder that 15 - 18 spyders showed up for.

He is authorized to work on the Spyder.

Send this guy to Florida. We need him here.;)

Then it sounds like he is just the guy to look into the problem. All good techs stand behind their work, and are the first ones to want to try to resolve a problem that arises like this. Let's hope he gets things figured out real soon. It is sad to hear about a wounded Spyder. :D

I had a mouse build a nest in my exhaust, twice on my Spyder, Once on my M109. The first nest was mostly seeds from the back yard. Then I put the little green pellets in my garage and he packed those into my exhaust. I finally found him dead in the garage, I guess he finally ate some of the green pellets instead of storing them all in my exhaust pipes! The Spyder was really hard to start, but then when it started, It sprayed the garage with the green pellets! It did run a little funny for a while, but seems OK now!
