• There were many reasons for the change of the site software, the biggest was security. The age of the old software also meant no server updates for certain programs. There are many benefits to the new software, one of the biggest is the mobile functionality. Ill fix up some stuff in the coming days, we'll also try to get some of the old addons back or the data imported back into the site like the garage. To create a thread or to reply with a post is basically the same as it was in the prior software. The default style of the site is light colored, but i temporarily added a darker colored style, to change you can find a link at the bottom of the site.

Apeeal for aide for Harvey's Victims

George and Barbara Bush live in Houston. Their area of town got feet of water, so it's very personal to them.

The ex-Presidents are doing a wonderful deed. Thank you!

it's all well & good but outside ***** all the other presidents could give $20 million easier then i could $500. they should
stop talking & just do. we all know we can donate to red cross & they will help out.

Some people have the ability to give a lot, and some don't. All donations, big or small are needed and appreciated.

:agree: I think that he still looks pretty darn good! :2thumbs:
(For the record: I didn't like his Politics; but I admire him as a Man of conviction!)

he is a much better person then he was a president, he is a great & generous person.

:agree: Jimmy Carter is into Habitat For Humanity. They've build a lot of homes for people in the Houston area for people who had little money, but paid for much of their homes with sweat equity. Habitat was on the scene quick helping those people out. If you're on a very tight budget, you probably don't have the tools for mudding a house out.

While helping out our flooded neighbors, I got tool envy...

Yes, after presidency, Jimmy is a very great and generous person.

Check out Horsetrailers for Harvey, a good friend of mine is involved in it.

john

On the southern loop of Beltway 8, north on Telephone Road, before getting to the airport, back in the wooded parts, there are horses stabled in an urban area. Try to check on them. Not a rich area by any means, but there are horses that may need your help. That area was flooded, something about horses standing in water for a while.

Bless Horsetrailers for Harvey for their help...

I believe it was when Hurricane Andrew ravaged Florida that the houses built by HFH were some of the best at withstanding the storm's winds. Unfortunately, floods have a way of destroying even the best built homes.

Has anyone heard of any agencies building short to long term emergency shelter/mini homes like we did after Andrew hit the Homestead area. Crews of USAF volunteers spent one - two week rotations down in the Homestead areas building two room w a bathroom mini homes that could be erected on site throughout the Andrew devastation area. This allowed landowners some shelter before FEMA mobile homes showed up. Seems like we were making about 100+ home/shelters per week per crew and delivering and erecting them sometimes on the old slab of the landowners home until more permanent shelter/home could be built. Seems like it was a Lutheran church led program, the master builder that coordinated everything was from New England somewheres... so many years ago....

 I really like the way that this was done! :2thumbs:
A big "Thank You", to all of our living former Presidents!

Thanks for the info, Bob. It's good that the politics can be put aside in this kind of effort. Just like the artificial societal divisions were just ignored during the rescue efforts during Harvey and other disasters.

We don't know how much any of them did or didn't give. Some people give without the PR.

It all helps...

Every little bit helps if given to the right agencies, organizations etc. Just need to find the ones that give it all to the needed areas...:lecturef_smilie: I don't want to pay salaries in home offices....
