There are many benefits to the new software, one of the biggest is the mobile functionality. Ill fix up some stuff in the coming days, we'll also try to get some of the old addons back or the data imported back into the site like the garage. The skinny on BRP'S 2-up F3 shock

I did a little research and BRP's 2-up shock for the F3 is actually
a stock shock part #706001703 with an upgraded spring part #
706002676, but BRP will not sell you just the spring ? Seems a
little shady seeing as the problem was caused by poor engineering
on BRP's behalf and there bagging you $200 for a vehicle that
comes equipped with a back seat and passenger footpegs and they
sell you a $500+ passenger backrest with no warning.

not fit for purpose

I 100% agree this is p-poor.

Selling an expensive bike with a shock that is SO under-specified is inexcusable.

I ride solo and am not heavy - but needed to buy the two-up shock - this is not an Upgrade, it is an essential rectification to make the F3S "fit for purpose"

i remain astonished that brp STILL sell the f3s with this substandard shock. I thought they would have addressed this on 16 and later models, but husbands f3s 17 came with the same rubbish shock as my 15.

Oh and I have never heard of a dealer who tells prospective buyers about this - though I guess some might...

Ummm noooo

:banghead:

The f3s does not have the airbag that the f3t has.
No air.
None.
No air bag.

Course, you could have been joking ??

nojoke Just didn't know they had different shocks. The F3T still feels really soft.

Poseidon, do you realise that the F3-L shock doesn't actually have air in it? There is a "two-up" shock, then above that is a very small air bag. You can remove the shock without touching the air bag. The air bag then effectively raises the seating position of the F3-T. If you weigh around 200lbs most seem to run the bag at say 30psi god a good mix of comfort and handling. I run mine at around 55 for my 300lbs. I have replaced my F3-L shock with a Wilbers as my wife and I (and she is only 130lbs) exceed the supposed max weight by 60lbs (and that's without riding gear and saddlebag contents)

It never ceases to amaze me how so many buyers could have such poor decision making skills that they would purchase, "an expensive bike with a shock that is SO under-specified."
:banghead: :opps:
You should have paid attention during the test Ryde, and got yourself one of those bikes are are perfect right off the line.

It's not a question of buying a perfect bike, it's a question of if there's a problem does the corporation (BRP)
have your back and correct the problem. Right now in order to fix the problem it's going to cost you .

what ??
I've owned an Rs, st-l and now f3s - poor decision making to buy the f3s - don't think so !!

Oh and which one is "perfect" "right off the line" ? Yours ?

SO much I want to say...

your comment was NOT appreciated - or relevant

PS just noticed you ride an RT - this rear shock issue is not in the same ball park as "choosing" to upgrade rear shocks on an Rs, st or rt... Totally different issue ...

I put the two-up shock on before I even hit 100 miles on my F3. Made a big difference.

They can be had for $165 through online sellers.....
Or you can drop $800 to $1200 for an aftermarket one....

No I didn't. I'm brand new to the Spyder world. My only experience with BRP is ATVs and maybe 40 miles that I've put on my wife's F3T. Haven't had the plastics off yet. I will soon enough tho. I do all the work on all of our bikes. Between the service manual, this site, and tearing into it for maintenance, accessories and mods, I'll be up to speed in no time.
