• There were many reasons for the change of the site software, the biggest was security. The age of the old software also meant no server updates for certain programs. There are many benefits to the new software, one of the biggest is the mobile functionality. Ill fix up some stuff in the coming days, we'll also try to get some of the old addons back or the data imported back into the site like the garage. To create a thread or to reply with a post is basically the same as it was in the prior software. The default style of the site is light colored, but i temporarily added a darker colored style, to change you can find a link at the bottom of the site.

Prohibited weapons in Australia

Phew......and just as well we have that list, Cavman........you will NEVER find ANY of those items ANYWHERE in Australia :ohyea:

Pete

Wow...!!

That is an impressive list...:yikes: problem here is we have them all anyway....:banghead::banghead:

A sling shot is included....but not a sharp pointed stick.

https://www.australianpolice.com.au/prohibited-weapons/

Nah, the sharp pointed stick actually IS a prohibited weapon, it's covered under the explanation of 'Mace, being a club or staff with a weighted or pointed end'... or words something like that!! (wanta ask me how I know?? :banghead: )

And the serious danger/damage is in the wording re just about anything - ie a baseball bat or a screwdriver or anything else carried in your car 'for protection' is 'a weapon', but a baseball bat with gloves & a ball cos 'I was hoping to hit the ball around the park a bit' or a screwdriver 'to persuade the dicky starter to work' is NOT a weapon.... altho you might get to argue any of that in court!!

It would seem that the Aussie gummint is attempting to make criminals out of a lot of citizens.

Quite a few items on that list don't make much sense. For instance, a crossbow is prohibited, but a vertical of any type bow is not. Some modern compound bows are more powerful and at least as accurate as a recurve crossbow. Knuckle dusters are prohibited. So what? An enterprising person will place a large ring on each finger and accomplish nearly the same results.

I guess the best self defense in Australia, is to curl up in the fetal position and whimper.

Not sure what to say here....

Thus far I have made no comment on the gun culture in the USA - it is not my country, not my culture, and not for me to say.

After all, I wouldn't want to insult anybody would I?

 Thank you, loisk. I love Australia, though I disagree with it's gun policies. But I wouldn't go there and criticise the laws.

But I will say I'm disappointed that handcuffs are prohibited. Where's the fun in that? :dontknow:

Ah, but we are great lateral thinkers...

Maybe we just rename them to fluffy wrist guards ? Better not say more ... :roflblack:

Australia's rules are their own.
I wouldn't dare to second-guess their wisdom, and I hope that they refrain from questioning mine!

But Patti & Lois : you two are starting to make me wonder... :D  :ohyea:

I didn't watch it ... how about a boomerang? Or a blow gun?

Boomerang? That reminds me of the story about the Aussie who bought a new boomerang and then spent the rest of his life trying to get rid of the old one! Sorry, I couldn't help myself. :p

Pete,
Our Bill of Rights guarantees our right to own firearms (If we are legally allowed to do so...).
Nobody says that you have to own them...

This coming from people in a country where school shootings are almost an every day occurrence. And you have the gall to put down other countries where we don't feel the need to be armed. Pretty sad.... :(
