No wonder your Hindle leaks

Maybe the clamp installed at the proper torque is intended to help keep the joint round and prevent it from going out of round.:dontknow:

Chances are it wouldn't leak without the clamp, you just got lucky that your slip joint is sealing.

This is a Yoshi slip joint. I've had no leaks with it for 1000's of miles of use.

If you are going to use a clamp you need at least 4 cuts in it like these.

Just received the Brand new Hindle via Fed Ex. Just finished the install and as expected it leaks at the joint. (I expected that one_:spyder:

Now for the 2nd problem. This new pipe, the CAN LEAKS AT THE SEAM (on the housing itself)just like the old one!!! The difference is there are NO LOOSE RIVETS.
IDK.....getting really frustrated:gaah::gaah::gaah:


My only hope is that the breaking in process (15 minute idle & cool) some how "sets" the internal gaskets. If this is the case, that would explain some of the leak issues are/were related to a proper break in period.

Who knows........grrr... I will update later.

I just talked to the dealer that sold it to me....they were very cool about it. They said they will contact BRP on Wed. and get it figured out.

If this is "normal", other than a few loose rivets, my old pipe is functional and I have virtually no need for the new one, other than cosmetic issues and annoying rattles. geeeze IDK...

Are you sure it's not the drain hole used to get rid of condensation? It's about at that same spot you identified but underneath. You will, in fact, get a small leak there... intentionally.

I do see a sort of gap/lip uderneath...is that what your speaking of? I don't see any sort of actual drain hole.:dontknow:

Normally, there's a small (about 1/8") hole at the bottom/low point of m/c mufflers to drain condensation... not a gap.

My Hindle is in a box in storage and I can't get to it. Not 100% sure that the Hindle actually has it... but most do... including the dual GSX-R1000 cans I'm running.

Just checked....there arent any actual holes on either one.(new or old)
The exhaust is escaping through gaps. On the old one the gap was on the side and underneath. The new one is only underneath....perhaps the one on the bottom is a breather? :dontknow:

I am anxious to hear from others with the same pipe.

Can't imagine a break-in process doing you any good for leakage. Any leakage (other than the discussed condensation drain hole) will only get worse with use.

The break-in process is usually for curing paint properly and possibly seating the internal fiberglass packing so it lasts longer. Neither of which will do anything for a leak.

That is pretty standard. Some do get away with 3 but 4 is probably Lamont's best bet.

That is where the moisture drain is located. They will all leak a little therenojoke:f_spider:

I am having the same problem as you mentioned, it does leak from the side.. I guess these are version 3 for the hindle mufflers and what I read they made them bad this time...

Checked my Hindle again today after Juice box install. The permatex is still holding. If it starts leaking. I'll cut the slots in it. But right now if it not broke don't fix it.
