• There were many reasons for the change of the site software, the biggest was security. The age of the old software also meant no server updates for certain programs. There are many benefits to the new software, one of the biggest is the mobile functionality. Ill fix up some stuff in the coming days, we'll also try to get some of the old addons back or the data imported back into the site like the garage. To create a thread or to reply with a post is basically the same as it was in the prior software. The default style of the site is light colored, but i temporarily added a darker colored style, to change you can find a link at the bottom of the site.

HEADLIGHT LENS PEELING

i just noticed last night that my left headlight lens seems to be peeling an outer coat. It is kind of dull where the peeling has occurred. Has anyone else ever had this happen or seen it?
Is there anything you can do, short of replacing the whole headlight assembly?
ALSO, is this something that may be covered by warranty?headlight.jpg

This is on a 2014 RT Limited

Bummer...

Something you should run by the dealer. I know there has been fogging and fading but have not seen the peeling. I would think it should be covered...:banghead:

Please throw another :agree: on the pile for me...
YOur dealer needs to be brought into the conversation. nojoke

What headlamp bulbs are in there? From the color they do not appear stock. Some have installed higher wattage halogen lamps and caused troubles with heat.....just checking. Some HIDs as well. Have not seen this with any of the LED lamps.

I was - am one of those .. I have 100 watt halogen bulbs .. I did have problem with the OEM plugs ( they disintegrated ) after 4 months ..... this problem was fixed by changing the OEM plugs for ones made of CERAMIC .... the wires and everything have been fine for over a 1 1/2 yrs. now ...... I really don't think the globe size will be having much to do with it.... you've got a dodgy lens there & you need to talk to your dealer about getting it replaced under warranty!!

Here in Aus, my absobloodylutely stock Spyder headlights with the standard Aus spec globes they put in there in the factory started melting the insides of the lenses, in the 'focus spot'....

Now admittedly, I ryde with my brights on all day (it's a 'be seen & be safe' thing over here) & I also won't deny that we have some bloody hot days here; but when I first noticed the little 'focus spots' beginning to melt it was immediately after spending a very hot day ryding at very slow speeds all day with high beams on. We were doing a Christmas Toy Run & took about 5 hours to travel a tad over 80 km, with lots of sitting around on the hot road with the sun beating down & road reflecting the heat from about 5000 'bikes travelling at speeds of no more than a max of about 40kph; but seriously, headlight lenses shouldn't start to melt from that.... - nor should tgg go cloudy/ start peeling either!!
