• There were many reasons for the change of the site software, the biggest was security. The age of the old software also meant no server updates for certain programs. There are many benefits to the new software, one of the biggest is the mobile functionality. Ill fix up some stuff in the coming days, we'll also try to get some of the old addons back or the data imported back into the site like the garage. Looking at 2014 Rt out of warranty

I'm looking at a low mile (less than 4000) 2014 Rt-S that is out of Warranty. I had the DESS issue on my F3 so my concern is the same issue with the 2014. What does it cost to upgrade the DESS system and is it something I can do myself? Thanks.

I have 24,000 on my 2014 RT-S. Never had a DESS issue or a major glitch that needed warranty work.

Does the 2014 RT-S still have the B.E.S.T warranty in force?

No, he bought it in February of 2015 and did not get an extended warranty. So, I would not have a warranty.

I purchaed my 2012 Can Am Spyder RT-SE5 preowned in 2016. It now has just over 23,000 miles. I've just paid for a new multifunction display, as the one in there, died on me. Can I purchase a BEST warranty at this point?

DESS ISSUE - POSSIBLE FIX

The module part costs about $ 135.00 ( PROCALIBER.COM - register for FREE and get discounted prices ) ... I moved my Module last year so it could be re-placed in 5 minutes if necessary ...... and you can do this in advance also if you want ......... the frunk must be re-moved to get to the module ........ it's attached to the " firewall " just above and to the left as you face the frunk area ..... it un-bolts , as does the harness wiring and plugs ..... I moved the Module ( there is more than enough wiring to do this ) to just under the right front headlight and bolted it ( using the OEM holes in the module ) to the lip ( where it's not visible with the hood closed ) ..... this location provides plug & play ... just in-plug old and plug in new and it's ready to go ..... Option " B" is to have the Module ....DIS-CONNECTED from the system .... JC Thorne can explain it, or Joel-the- Biker ......... good luck ........... PS the new location has NOT caused any issues ..... Mike

You CAN get a warranty if desired. It wouldn't be a B.E.S.T. warranty, and might cost a bit more. Friend-o-mine just bought a 2011 RT from our dealer, and was able to buy a warranty for it, but I don't know the details.

When I traded up to my NEW machine, I bought a non-B.E.S.T. warranty for roughly an equal price. I chose it because it's cancelable/refundable whenever I might trade again. Instead of being stuck with losing any unused portion of the B.E.S.T. warranty. :banghead:

I purchased my 2014 RTL in March of 2015 and it came with a 3 year warranty (expires 4/30/18). If you are purchasing from a dealer they should be able to tell you if it's still under warranty, if not try calling BEST at 866-477-1415 with the VIN to determine if it is still under warranty

Another option:
The DESS can be disabled. You just need to find someone with a Master LIcense to play around with BUDS, and a willing attitude.
There are several of them in here!

:agree: This would be my first choice......Just disable the dumb thing.

Be
very careful with service plans other than the OEM BEST. They have a very lack luster history of denying claims, filing for bankruptcy and otherwise just separating you from your money with very little return.

I have a very early production 2014 RT and couldn't be happier with it. It has (so far) very trouble-free with about 35k miles on it. I wouldn't be overly concerned about the lack of warranty, I'd be more concerned about a good shop near you should work be necessary.
